Thanks for the response. I am my mom’s representative and been receiving all correspondence. My only concern is that when we submitted her application her address is in Manila and she will fly here next month, so her address will change.
It is always best practice to update CIC when she will arrive in Canada.

For those who do not have birth certificate, what is the best way to go about it? Are School certificate, Voterid /other Ids with explanation letter enough for this purpose? Or should we go for affidavit?
Please suggest.

Country Specific Requirements:
Birth certificates issued in this country: If a birth is registered late, include a copy of the original baptism certificate and copies of other original documents establishing identity such as:

  • Old school records (Fifth class, Middle standard and Matriculation/secondary school certificate), and
  • Voter's ID card.
If you are from India. It is pretty easy to get birth certificates now a days. You just have to fill the form along with all the documents and they will text you in 2-3 days to pick up your certificate.

Hi All,
I have a few questions related to Parental Sponsorship.

1. We have submitted the application through a consultant. I understand that all the communication is routed through the consultant. I tried to link the application to an online account but the system is giving a message "application not found". Is it because that CIC will directly send the communication to the consultant only and I cannot view the same because of my initial selection? If you have received AOR then you should be able to link your application. If unsuccessful then contact CIC using webform and attach the screenshots of all the fills that you are using to link application.

2. My mother is above 79 years old. I read somewhere that biometrics will not be required for people above 79 years old. Can somebody confirm?
This is true.
3. What about Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) ? My mother is staying with me in Canada for the last 6 years on a visitor visa most of the time. Will she be required to go back to India for applying for PCC? PCC is required from every country you mother has stayed since she was 18 for more than 6 months except Canada

Check answers in BOLD

wow.. really..? Last time when I checked ( in Andhra Pradesh) , i was told a complicated process that we have to go the remote village where my mother was born and apply for it and get a " No records found" cert as my mother's birth was not registered ( early 50s). Then we have to take that cert to another local office and get the BC. In between, it requires lots of approval and involves different offices. So, we didnt pursue it.

All I did was get the province to resend the response! That's it.

But getting to talk to someone at the province was arm and a leg. I had to make a lot of phone calls but dont loose hope keep calling every day eventually you will get to the right person.

Just make sure you inform the front desk actual situation like you have sponsored and ircc just wants to check welfare clearance for you as a sponsor like make sure they understand so they can transfer you to the right person.

Once they resend it. Bio request is less than 2 weeks away
Thank you! I really believed that IRCC and the province would take care of it without any delay but it already 3 months since in process without any changes. I will try to call the province tomorrow!

It didn’t actually speed up the process for @ZOYAMAN13. Do you even know that it hasn’t been received yet? Wouldn’t it make sense to call and find that out first versus calling tons of people in the government Alberta? I understand that you are anxious for the process to be over but sometimes you just need to be patient. Even if the process is slower than you wanted you are at least going through the process. Also assume that approvals will slow down as holiday time approaches.

my parents now are taking the medical exam. they were told their blood pressure is a bit high (160). I don't think the blood pressure is going to have impact their medical admissibility, but would like to hear from your experience. thank you so much
They may be required to do a cardiac work-up to make sure nothing more serious is going on. They should repeat their BP a few more times to make sure it wasn’t white coat syndrome and get some medication if they do have high bp since high bp can have a lot of bad consequences. If they are overweight a few changes to their diet and some light exercise may also be a way to lower their bp without resorting to medication.

May 6th applicant:
My mum's supervisa is valid till 1st week April 2020. She is in Canada currently. PGP application is at background check stage now. Additional documents submitted on Oct 22nd. I was hoping to see DM/PPR but no signs so far. Not sure where it is stuck.

What is someone's take on it? Should we book the return ticket for March or wait another month?? I was hoping if she gets her PPR, we can do landing at US border. And it is the holiday season now, don't think IRCC will be working over next 2-3 weeks.

Any suggestions?
Would wait until you get PR unless you are able to change the ticket. Why risk it. Expect things to slow down especially after this week and then start up again after the new year. Pretty typical for all government offices (also the public sector).

Yes thats what I thought too. Untill my mp forwarded me an email from ircc early December which read

Dear Zoya,

As promised, I have asked IRCC about your sponsorship application and in particular, the reference to Social Assistance. Here is the response I have received:

“We have verified the information you provided on behalf of your constituent. We can confirm that the initial assessment to ensure the sponsor meets all the sponsorship requirements is still in process. The below reference pertains to a note on file dating from August 29, 2019 regarding a pre-assessment of the sponsor`s eligibility. There are no notes on file confirming that a response from Social Services was received by the responsible office.

The Social Services department is involved in all sponsorship application. In order to meet the sponsorship requirements, the sponsor must demonstrate that they are not in receipt of social assistance other than for reasons of disability. As per regulation R133(1)(k), a person is ineligible to sponsor if their primary or sole source of income is “social assistance” benefits. This verification is a regulatory step and is mandatory. As per our current processing times, it may take 20 to 24 months to finalize this application.”

I would suggest that you ask the Social Services office to re-send the letter as IRCC has not received it. If Social Services is agreeable to sending the letter to you, please forward it to me once you receive it. I will send it to IRCC.

After the above email when I was finally able to get through someone at the province on 5th of December she told me yes they got the intial request for me and my husband on a single form from ircc on Aug 29 and they responded on sept 17. I begged her to please send it again. She was really nice and said she will resend it today which was dec 5.

I called IRCC on Dec 13 at 9:45 am to see if they got it or else I was gonna call province again and ask to see if they can send that to me or my mp. She put me on hold and when she came back she said the response from province was received and it was attached/uploaded to your file on DEC 11. Now it's waiting for the case officer to get back to the file for review.

I asked her do you know how long would that be. She said she has no clue. I thought another few months of wait now

I hung up the phone and checked my email at 10. And there was an email to check gckey which had 3 bio metric letters.

I honestly don't know what helped but I like to believe it was the response form dec 5 which the people that work outside uploaded to my file on dec 11

I hope this helps each one of you waiting for the province response including @Roya-FSW @calgary17 @RevSob @p2019
@Sonysurrey
