it is with great sadness my application has been denied Although I made it for 2015-2017, I was short of income in 2018 due to a period of unemployment which is out of my control, at the same time my wife was on mat leave and our combined income is still 60% short of what needed only in 2018. Although I thought that I can use either 2015-2017 or 2016-2018 to meet and choose to submit 2015-2017, it is required to meet for 2018 as well regardless of option selected and supposed to meet in this year as well until the application is finalized. Unfortunately nothing I can do at this point, I have resigned to fate, I wish everyone success and it seems like my journey need to take 3 more years to make the next chance.

Did they ask you for 2018 notice of assessment?
If not, how did they know you didn't meet the income?

Hello All,

Quick question for you, I am sponsoring my in laws and my wife has tax returns for 2 years as she is new to Canada, I have tax returns for over 3 years with plenty of income to sponsor.

Will that be okay?

If you had money in your bank account ( Assuming you have) - you could have shown other part time income and pay taxes on it just to meet the LICO requirement.

Unfortunately, you can't sponsor your in laws, you can only be co-signer. Your wife needs last 3 years tax returns. Please check the instruction guide https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...application-sponsor-parents-grandparents.html , where quoted "You can’t sponsor your spouse’s parents and grandparents (your in-laws). However, you can be a co-signer on your in-laws’ sponsorship application."

Sorry to hear that.
If they knew they are gonna reject your application, why did they ask for additional docs, travel history and your brother's birth certificate?!
By the way, did they refund all the fess?

I am the cosigner and have 3 years of tax returns, I can file a zero tax return for her before she was in Canada. Does it even matter?

Over all income for both of us for 3 years is already meeting the threshold.
