@Garry2008: Thanks for this thread. I have few questions and did try to go back in many threads to check as I am sure these questions would have come earlier too. Please bear with me if these are repeated questions:
1. Is ecas same as linking paper application to electronic file?
NO.
2. Since my package just reached Ottawa few days ago, is it too early to link my paper application and/or to check on ecas?
It will be 6-7 weeks before you can check ecas.
3. For Ecas do we put sponsor's UCI ?
People were able to check ecas by using Receipt# or PA UCI# or Sponsor's UCI# (someone also reported he was able to check with passport#, though I am not sure how)
4. For linking application, the applicant is person we are sponsoring or details of sponsor (eg. birth place, etc.)
5. For number of applicants, do we right family size or applicants we are sponsoring (eg 2 for parents being sponsored?)
6. Finally, if we link application to electronic system, do we still expect to get email notifications for any updates? Would I get AOR by email or not if my application is linked?
YES. Someone confirmed earlier today that he got his AOR email after linking the file.
7. The system cannot find my application no matter what so not sure if it is too early to do this.
