Finally some progress on parents' case. We received request for medical and PCC yesterday. Today I also received pre arrival services letter. I was under the impression that they send out this letter only when the PR has been approved. IRCC has its own logic I guess.

Good to hear this. Hope your parents' case will progress further soon. I also thought pre-arrival services letter comes after medical passed.

Hi All,

Got this message yesterday from CIC. Did everyone got it or just few of us? Looks like they'll further delay the processing. Pls advice what you guys think.

Thanks!!

Update on IRCC processing capacity for your Family Class – Parents and Grandparents application.

Dear client,

Thank you for your interest in Canada. We are looking forward to having you here.

Due to the impacts of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), we’re experiencing longer than usual processing delays. Rest assured, we are still actively processing your Family Class – Parents and Grandparents application, but it will take longer than usual to get back to you.

This also means that we are unable to provide accurate processing times on individual applications at this time. As a result, we have removed the progress bar in the online account of Family Class – Parents and Grandparents clients. You can still get the most current information about the status of your Family Class – Parents and Grandparents application by checking the ‘Details about application status’ section in your online account.

Hi all,
I have few questions, I want to bring my parents here while we wait for their PR application to finalize. Their Super visa is expiring on Oct 2021.
1) Can they travel to Canada anytime before the expiry of the visa and stay for 2 years (or date stamped by border officer) or they can stay only until Oct 2021?
2) Once they come here, can they extend their super visa beyond Oct 2021, or Applying for a new one is the only option?
I would appreciate your responses.
Thanks

I have the same issue though related to multiple entry visa. I want to bring my parents here next month but my father's visitor visa will expire in Sept 2021. I believe visitor extension is when the TRV is still valid and only the limit of six months stay is getting over. In the visitor's forum I read some people applying for extension atleast a month before the visa's expiry.

I had planned their visit thinking PGP case will be processed soon and they won't have to leave, but yesterday's Capacity Email has dampened my spirits.

This must be in response to many calls to IRCC about timelines of processing PGP applications.
Let us hope that the cases will progress even though in a slow pace.

Has anyone applied for a visitor visa for their parents lately? I am curious on how long it takes, the website says 355 days which sounds excessive considering it took just a week prior to COVID.

Could you apply for a supervisa now while waiting?
Supervisa can be applied only from outside Canada, but my parents plan to come here next month. Even otherwise Supervisa processing times have increased to 412 days now.
