I filled an online inquiry last week and today I heard back from CIC:

We can provide you with the following details about the status of your Application to sponsor your parents.

• The application was received at the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga (CPC-M), Ontario on May 9, 2019.

• The initial assessment of your eligibility to sponsor is in process. You may be contacted if additional information is needed.

Which is nothing new! what is "initial assessment of eligibility" and why it's not done for all applicants?!
