I partially agree with your comment.. can you find the refernce of that they will use the current family size for all years?
To me they should see the family size for each year indipendently.
so in my case they probably see my gross income for 4 family member for the years 2015 and 2016.
For 2017/2018 they will evaluate me based on 5 family members.
To be honest, i have more than enough gross income to support all 5 members during all requested years. but i am not convinced on providing information that is miss representing.

The only family size IRCC cares about, and that you can enter calculations for, is family as of today (when you do the application). They do not care about family size in previous years that doesn't reflect your current situation.
So your family size is 5 in all previous year.
