PGP quota in 2016 was 5000; increased to 10000 in 2017 with lottery system - 2 lots were taken out as not enough people from the draw applied. In 2018 again 10000 applicants will be selected through lottery system however rhis time they have modified the forms so hopefully only those who meet the criteria will apply & if all is well there will be no need for second lot in 2018. What is noteworthy is most of the applications reach upto stage two ( ie sponsorship approvals and the files are then sent to LVO ‘s for further processing) - then the real wait starts. If you see the processing timelines for 2016 it can take anything from six months to two years and your fill is still in process- no call for medical & PCC. Applications from 2016 are still in process and pending from the year when the quota was only 5000 for that year. The number of appicants for subsequent years has been doubled for each year - so one can estimate the approximate time it will take for the applcants from 2017/2018. Only applications sent to London LVO have been lucky as almost all the files have already processed for stage three infact decisions have been made in more than 50 percent. Hope the officials realise this and are doing something to process the files faster rather than increasing the Q & waiting time.

It is difficult for parents and grandparents to plan their shifting from their respective countries to Canada unless there is some certainty and known timeframes. Otherwise its of no use increasing the quota from 5000 to 10000 every year........

Food for thought: Is there “we the applicants” can do anything to help or resolve this problem. ??

Comments are welcome

Hello, wondering if anyone can answer this. Do I have to maintain income requirement for 2017 although my file has been transferred to LVO?

I believe there's no hard & fast rule that the income would be verified again during application processing. Having said that, it's very well possible that it might happen. So, it's best to include a co-signer (even if you don't need one) in case you don't meet LICO in future.

Hi, we just have a recent AOR from late 2017. Should we apply for the 2018 lottery or that's a bad idea?
Assuming, you're thinking about applying for partner's parents. There's no harm as long as you meet LICO.

Got in the process with the 2017 PGP PR application 2nd round. Wondering whether or not we should apply for the 2018 lottery as well in case something doesn't work out with the 2017 application, we then might have a chance in 2018. Thoughts?

Not a good idea unless it's for partner's parents and you meet LICO for both apps. Even if something goes wrong with your 2017 application, it's hardly possible that you'd have enough time to resubmit for 2018 and you can't have overlapping applications. That might result in cancellation of both apps.

you have to withdraw your 2017 applications to be able to apply again 2018, selected in 2017 and apply again in 2018 and both your application be cancelled as duplications. Do not apply again when you already got selected in 2017

Hello,

I applied for PGP 2017 in second round of invitation. As of Dec 01, 2017, the tracking status on Online Services shows "Application Received".

Today, Jan 16, 2018, I (the sponsor) got the letter stating the following:

"Dear Sir/Madam:
This refers to your application to sponsor your parent(s) or grandparent(s) (PGP) under the Family Class.

Your application has been accepted under the intake cap for 2017.

Your application number is located below the date of this letter. You must quote this reference number in any future correspondence related to this file. This correspondence also acknowledges receipt of your payment. Please keep a copy of this letter for your records."

After this they included information about using a representative.

I am confused if this letter is AOR or Sponsorship Approval. I would appreciate your help in understanding this document.

Thanks

I have a question, may be someone has an answer. I need a criminal record check for my mom from Kazakhstan, I wasn’t asked yet by IRCC, but it took me 4.5 months to get it and it’s in Russian. Do I need to translate it? And how long is it valid for? Should I reapply again, just in case if it will be expired?
