No, they just rushed the lottery system in last minute and this is the result.

This was not a strategic plan to reduce backlog, it was just stupid planning.

What is the bloody rush? Nobody does things like that. You plan a system properly, test it to make it robust and then implement it.

You don' rush. It is unprofessional.

Hallmarks of Trudeau Liberals.

I tell you the other one that is gonna be a huge mess is the Legalization of Pot!

And Trudeau is just pushing the responsibility to the Provinces!

I wonder, what happen to those lucky ones who were selected but not qualified for the minimum requirement.
IRCC, will not re-pick and left so many people who were potentially selected but need to wait for one more year????

This lottery was clearly not a lottery but a selection. They want to reduce their backlog.

Lotteries have to be conducted with a live audience to ensure transparency. There was no such thing here.

This whole process is one huge joke. Please please please sign my epetition on the parliament website... you can find it here

I am in contact with my MP. A response is pending...

The problem is here, maybe eventually. only thousands of applications are qualified. what about the rest of the spot? sigh. Those spots will be wasted.

The petition is a) poorly supported and b) obsolete. The Lottery is a "done deal", at least for 2017.

Did we get to see how they conducted the draw?

All lotteries are done with an audience to ensure that there was no hanky panky

This lottery is probably a farce.

If they conducted NHL first pick draws the way CIC did, there would be uproar.

Same with LottoMax.

Trudeau is all about being not transparent.

Guaranteed it was done with witnesses. There is freedom of information and later on you will be able to see exactly how lottery was done and what all the stats were for 2017 PGP.

They don't televise these kinds of things for immigration draws. Never have and never will, ridiculous to expect something like that. Thinking there was personal choice by IRCC to select friends/bribes, is nothing more than a crazy conspiracy theory.

Says you. Wait till we have evidence to say they did conduct the draw with witnesses.

Looking at how disorganized and haphazard they conducted this whole thing I'd be willing there were no witnesses.

You support Trudeau right? Your pretty boy.

Well. I truly believe this is just a random selections. but I just think, they should have a plan b for those people who got selected but not qualified and will do the second draw to meet the 10,000 spots.

This is a ridiculous argument. If there had been witnesses - do you honestly believe the results would have been better?

The problem was not lack of witnesses. The problem was that the lottery entry form failed to weed out those who didn't qualify. That was the problem.

Again, the witness thing is ridiculous. Don't mix real issues with fake issues. This reduces the impact of your message.

we dont need witnesses
we need pre-screening before the draw, give two weeks to send in completed application form, then draw 10k from it.
We need non-refundable application fee, people don't read, unless money in involved.

They *should* but you can pretty much guarantee that they will not. By the time that the 90 days are up, they will only have the number of submitted applications, not the number of *eligible* applications. That will take longer to determine and by then we will be reaching the end of 2017.

The whole process was a joke. People that strive to unite their families cannot for years. They call sponsorship a privilege, not a right

Everyone who completed the form was sent an email.
It's CIC! I'm guessing they email by batches til May 5th, so if we don't receive an email, we contact them on May 8th!

I agree, I haven't received any. Hoping for the best till May 8th.

I know two other families who applied, one of them who never wanted to apply at first place got selected. I guess there is something with the word lottery- you will see almost everyone who qualify will apply thus reducing the chances for the desperate ones.
I still think lottery selection was fair but the ones not selected should get special quota for next year. Otherwise lot of people will have to wait for ever.

Good Luck everyone !!!

On the contrary, we will not know how poorly supported nor obsolete unless we see an actual petition.
