There are enough Halal places in Calgary and they are in every quadrant of the city. Look at Zabihah.com for all your halal needs like restaurant, grocery, mosques etc. For rental, please check rentfaster.com. Ads on kijiji can be fake and may land you in trouble. Transit system is really good here but a little time consuming. I live around 8-10 minutes drive from SAIT Campus and the public transit takes about 15 - 20 minutes. Bell is a CDMA based cell phone provider and is expensive and their services are not good. But since you already have the connection test them out. Virgin has better coverage. Shopping in Calgary is expensive but you need to know the time and place to shop. One good place to shop is 20 minutes drive from calgary at Cross Iron Mills. Its a outlet mall. The best time to shop in Calgary is back to school which is going on now, boxing day (december 26th), spring breaks.
