Hello guys , Thanks a lot for all your help. One more thing i have in my mind which i like to clear is that on form "Generic Application Form for Canada (IMM 0008)" after i click VALIDATE... the boxes that i don't fill become GREY... should i write "N/A" after print out ? or should i write "N/A" before validating / printing the forms ? or should i just leave them as it is...

please let me know how you guys filled the forms.

Thanks
Muzmil

Assalam o Allaikum Muzmil,

There is no need to write N/A, cells automatically turn grey after validation that means no info for these cells.

As per my knowledge If you go to Calgary either through Toronto or Montreal, your POE (Point of Entry) will be that city I mean Toronto or Montreal and your custom/other formalities related to POE will be done there and you have to handle your luggage at Toronto / Montreal for the next flight. Some people actually try to avoid that because of traveling with family. Otherwise, if you come to Calgary via London or any other City outside Canada, your POE will be Calgary hence you will receive your luggage their once for all.

Seniors, please correct me if I am wrong.

Azhar

Yep.. you are damn right.. Your POE will be Toronto OR Montreal if you land there 1st and you will have to carry your luggage to your Immigration officer n then their domestic flights counter. I did the same, n believe me its SO HECTIC! Specially if you are with your family.. for me, it was a nightmare to carry three luggage trolleys. anyway, its an another story..

I read a thread on another forum regarding whether to land in Montreal or not, it was concluded (with examples) that one should avoid making Montreal his PoE if applied under FSW, because landing in Montreal means you land in Quebec which has adifferent immigration rules from the rest of Canada.

err.. No, you probably misunderstood those threads. Nothing's like that. You can land anywhere in Canada, specially for Quebec, if you got a further flight / ticket, you are all set!
I landed in Canada via Montreal, I had a connecting flight for Calgary. They processed my case as per FSW laws.

However, landing in Montreal is not a best idea.. They are very busy processing for Quebec immigrants, your immigration paper work may get delayed for some hours.

Dear brother,

I already read that story. some really good advises. I am not going Vancouver rather going to Calgary. Further, one thing I would like to say that some of the advises he gave are specific to a family like his. I mean a his wife was a working women whereas my wife is not. Also in most of the cases, you can not defer the travelling of your family members for some suitable time because of many reasons. Firstly, short expiry of medical, secondly, sometimes your wife is not confident enough to travel without you with kids, thirdly, if you will come back to get them with you then it will cost you seriously.

As I understand following was his main mistakes:

Firstly, when he arrived he should be aware of the fact that he would not be able to get the same level white color ob straight away and should go for what aware come in his way I mean any survival job.

Secondly, he had to be careful with his expenditures, and had to bring down his standard of living from what it was in India. Like he may got a 2 bed room basement apartment rather going for an expensive one first time.

Azhar
Go ahead buddy. Good Luck.

I made a telephone call to IOM for checking whether there's any session in Lahore in near future, i was told that no session is planned at the moment and they will wait for 20 - 25 attendees and then they'll announce the date, moreover the concerned officer was on a trip to Australia that might be the reasons you have not got a reply yet.
Physul I also sent them an email but no response. Would you please share the telephone number?

good job Abid, so what do you think we should live in Toronto or Calgary?
regards,

AoA,

Well, I haven't received PPR1 yet, but hoping to get the process done within this year. My plan is to land in Toronto/Calgary in March 2013 iA, before my medicals expire. As my plan is still tentative on whether I want to move for good in March or just get the PR cards, our travel dates are tied with the kids' spring break. I just thought that maybe those planning to land in March can coordinate and help each other in some way.

Anyway, my email is azad2020@gmail.com

Well I am planning to land in same march but after 20th. My destination would be toronto as weather would be fine for my children. Also for jobs, opportunities are there but with a bit high competition. Another good destination would be calgary but weather there during that time would be a bit harsh for family with small kids.
Can you share your contact detail in PM so that we could discuss this further?
