Pakistani Applicants waiting for PPR (Stage 1 or 2 letters) from CHC London

As per my knowledge If you go to Calgary either through Toronto or Montreal, your POE (Point of Entry) will be that city I mean Toronto or Montreal and your custom/other formalities related to POE will be done there and you have to handle your luggage at Toronto / Montreal for the next flight. Some people actually try to avoid that because of traveling with family. Otherwise, if you come to Calgary via London or any other City outside Canada, your POE will be Calgary hence you will receive your luggage their once for all.

Seniors, please correct me if I am wrong.

Calgary is great.. no doubt. i am enjoying everyday here, Weather is abit difficult for some people. As chinook winds aint coming since a week n we are praying for them like seriously. But overall, its so good and healthy. Lots of jobs too.. except, its somewhat hard to get a place for rent in your desired area. Rents are getting higher n higher, people from BC and Saskatchewan are coming in Calgary on regular basis.
Last but not least, check Qatar airways. Last i checked, they were allowing TWO (23KG per baggage) baggage and a hand carry per person. Their routes were Khi-Doha-Montreal/Toronto-Calgary.

Brother all international airlines are offering only 1 baggage of 23 kg per person plus 7 kg hand carry irrespective of the age of the passenger. I mean you will be allowed 23+7 kg each for adults, child and infants. However I heard PIA offers 2 baggage of 23. but not sure. And sorry I didn't inquire about excess baggage yet.

I've checked with Emirates and PIA,

Emirates offers the following check in baggage;

Adult: 2 pieces where each piece must not exceed 23 kg (total 46 kg) Total dimensions (length + width + height) of each piece must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches). For Economy passengers with two pieces of luggage, the total combined dimensions of both pieces must not exceed 273 cm (107 inches).
Child: same as adult
Infant: 1 pieces of 23 kg

whereas PIA offers the following;

Adult: 2 pieces where each piece must not exceed 28 kg (total 56 kg) with length+width+hight of each piece must not exceed 62 inches (roughly 157 cm)
Child: same as adult
Infant: 1 pieces of 28 kg

For Emirates again:

one piece of carry-on (hand carry or cabin) baggage that may not exceed 22 x 15 x 8 inches (55 x 38 x 20cm) and must weigh no more than 7kg.

but if you are travelling with an infant than you are permitted to bring one carry-cot or one fully collapsible stroller into the cabin if there is room. If there is no space for these items in the cabin, they will have to be checked. However, if checked, they will not count against your baggage allowance.

It is advised by many that if you are travelling with kids then try to avoid connecting flights, and double check with your travel agent whether transit is allowed without a transit visa if you are taking a transit in any european country (you can check the ministry of foreign affair website of the respective country too).

For people going to Toronto, PIA is definitely better. Except the fact of being a very long flight of more than 14 hours. But for people going to Calgary or Edmonton, if they go through Toronto, their POE will be Toronto and they will have to deal with their luggage their also. I actually want to avoid that.

I used PIA for Lahore-Toronto in July.......its was really a good experience to advantage of non stop flight with kids & alot of baggage.
Yes! PIA allow us 2 bags of 23kg & 1 hand carry for adult & child and only 1 bag of 23kg for infant. No seat for infant.

I read a thread on another forum regarding whether to land in Montreal or not, it was concluded (with examples) that one should avoid making Montreal his PoE if applied under FSW, because landing in Montreal means you land in Quebec which has adifferent immigration rules from the rest of Canada.

Good News to Share..

Three days before my E-Clients Status has been changed to Decision Made from Inprocess.
Yesterday night I have received my PPR2 by email and will submit my passport for visa stamping to CHC ISB on 5 Nov 2012.
My Time line is given on the signature panel.

I made a telephone call to IOM for checking whether there's any session in Lahore in near future, i was told that no session is planned at the moment and they will wait for 20 - 25 attendees and then they'll announce the date, moreover the concerned officer was on a trip to Australia that might be the reasons you have not got a reply yet.

Dear brother,

I already read that story. some really good advises. I am not going Vancouver rather going to Calgary. Further, one thing I would like to say that some of the advises he gave are specific to a family like his. I mean a his wife was a working women whereas my wife is not. Also in most of the cases, you can not defer the travelling of your family members for some suitable time because of many reasons. Firstly, short expiry of medical, secondly, sometimes your wife is not confident enough to travel without you with kids, thirdly, if you will come back to get them with you then it will cost you seriously.

As I understand following was his main mistakes:

Firstly, when he arrived he should be aware of the fact that he would not be able to get the same level white color ob straight away and should go for what aware come in his way I mean any survival job.

Secondly, he had to be careful with his expenditures, and had to bring down his standard of living from what it was in India. Like he may got a 2 bed room basement apartment rather going for an expensive one first time.

Hello guys , Thanks a lot for all your help.One more thing i have in my mind which i like to clear is that on form "Generic Application Form for Canada (IMM 0008)" after i click VALIDATE... the boxes that i don't fill become GREY... should i write "N/A" after print out ? or should i write "N/A" before validating / printing the forms ? or should i just leave them as it is...


please let me know how you guys filled the forms.
