Dear maha,
Thanks for the excellent advice and info !
I use Tawuniya in KSA. Which is one of the best in Mideast.
Is the insurance letter issued with the card annually, enough ?
Any older records needed/helpful ?.
Or a letter from the company ?

+1 for you

Regards & Allah Hafiz

Also to mention ,im talking about insurance policy in british columbia....
Rules vary province by province...( just heard frm my frnd in montreal, thy r paying just 33$ per month insurance for car)
Alberta offer more new immigrant benefits, but u hv compromise on extreme cold weather condition...
Vancouver is weather wise very good, still warm when sunny, but way tooooo expensive....

Also, if u plan to get driving licence, better start studying for knowledge test,if u hv time in PAk, search online, all the guides r available, it may save ur time.
As per rule,if u pass ur knowledge test,u can drive with ur paki licence for 3months, starting from day of landing....
Road is a bit tough, mainly due to lefthand drive, so u can get practice before road test...

Thanks Maha for sharing valuable information. You have mentioned that Alberta is better for new immigrants from benefits perspective. Can you please explain this point further. Thanks

alberta advantages r low house rent, free pre school for kids less than 5 years(after 5 ,proper schoolng stRTS ,Tthts free too.

low salary limit is 4000 canadian dollars per month( most benefits from gov can be availed if u r in low pay range)
for more ,kindly search web...
but climate challenges r very tuf in alberta

Schooling until High School is free throughout Canada, not just in Alberta.
It's winter weather most people don't like, but it is much better than Ontario as Ontario is heavily populated and there is lot of competition for jobs.
Ontario has highest auto insurance rates in whole country. Quebec is the cheapest.

You must have NIC or NICOP at airport in Pakistan, FIA sometimes likes to see it.
Without it some folks have been denied boarding.
As long as its NADRA-issued it should be ok.

Or, you can obtain a NICOP before leaving anyway

It is not mandatory. But my suggestion is to make it. It's validity is 10 years and it will help if your passport expires in canada to return to Pakistan.

Dear Qasim,

For details:
I agree with Enigma

As long as you have a valid Pakistani passport... there are no issues.
Nobody can deny entry, with a valid Pakistani passport... but is good to have NICOP.
And, If your passport expires/or you loose it... No entry without NICOP.

Canvis, you are right in the sense that they can ask for it anytime anywhere.
I have personally had the experience of being asked NIC/NICOP multiple times while on vacation in pakistan (security concerns, and they have a right to do so)

My Policy is keep all documents valid. As well as, scanned and saved. Be it Pakistani or resident country.

Hope it helps

But,
The question was actually for immigration purpose at POE. So the exact answer is NOT required. :D
I have already mentioned it in a post above.

You can apply from NADRA executive center and choose smart nicop. It is delivered in 7 working days.
