Montreal is so expensive man. I got into concordia last year but they didnt give me on campus residence. When i looked at the places off campus it was so damn expensive. You should learn french when you go there coz it will be very beneficial for you to get pr if you know french in quebec.

Good luck man, its a 2 year program right?
yaar I m french and french isnt a problem .....yeah its 2 years ...

Hi everyone. I got into ubc and applied for my study permit which was paper based on the 26th of May. Had my biometrics done the next day which was the 27th of May to be precise. From then onwards I haven't received any update from the embassy. I haven't got a call for medical or to submit my police certificate yet. Classes are starting on 2nd of September and orientation from the 25th of August. Is there any thing I can do? Does it happen normally or am I screwed up?

I applied early june done with medical in july.

The reason I told you that you should have applied in june is because you applied on the old policy. you will only be able to get a study permit for 3 years. You'll need to complete your program in 3 years. UG is usually 4 years unless you got transfer credits. Under the new policy you can find odd jobs and start working as soon as you reach canada. But since you applied on the old policy you will need to wait 6 months before you can apply to work off campus.

Im done with medical, waiting for visa issuance.

it doesnt matter when you applied.. anyone getting visas from June 2014 onward would be issued visas under new rules in my opinion.

Wrong information. It clearly states that your visa will be issued based upon when you "applied" not when the visa was issued. Refer to cic.gc.ca it clearly states that applicant applying prior to June1st will be given visas on old conditions.

Note: Under the new rules, your study permit will become invalid 90 days after you have completed your study program. If you switch to a shorter-term program or finish your studies early, your study permit will expire 90 days after your study program has been completed. Your program is considered complete when you receive written notification of program completion (for example, a transcript or an official letter) from your institution or once you obtain your degree, diploma or certificate. This does not apply to you if your study permit application was received before June 1, 2014, or if you were issued a study permit before June 1, 2014.

Also new rules will only be for students who's file was received on or after June 1st.

I applied for transfer of credits to undergraduate program but unfortunately my credits weren't transferred hence i am going to start 4 years undergraduate degree from 1st year. This is something really disturbing me. 4 long years to wait for graduation :-[
Now i would like to enroll in a 3 years undergraduate program or Change institution for a 2 years undergraduate diploma in relevant field.
(I have received 4 years visa)

My questions
1) After landing in Canada Can i enroll in three years program ? I know i will have to inform CIC but i have got visa for 4 years and my new program lasts for 3 yrs. Will it create hurdles for me ?
2) If i change institute and enroll in 2 yrs diploma ? Is that possible ? Again my study permit is for 4 years. Will it be an issue ?
Last but not least. What about PGWP ? Either completing 3 yrs degree or 2 yrs diploma. Will i get 3 yrs PGWP ?
Please someone answer my queries. Thankyou

Lol. I should've waited for four more days.
I applied before June during the previous policies. Is it possible that by any chance thats the reason why my status is extremely delayed. Today marks the end of my 8th week and still haven't got any call for medical. Do you think that I might be refused or isnormal?

No applying before or after June has nothing to do with delays.

E-mail them and ask them about your file. Theres no other way to find out. Every file has its own timelines.
