Hi all,

Just wondering...when CIC-M sends the package to the VO, do they put all the IMM forms and other evidence back into the same envelopes? Mine were very tight to fit all the documents, so I'm worried the visa officer may not be able to fit them all...or do they put everything into a new envelope that is big enough???

Thanks,
FS

FS your so cute the way you worry :p I am sure they will get your whole app to the VO. of course things get lost and misplaced but with as many apps as they handle they gotta have some kinda procedure... hopefully it's better then their processing in order.... with the way everyone talks about their packages I'm starting to worry we didn't send enough...

My understanding FS....is that they re-organize the files to their standards ( scary I know)....and since I sent an 9kg box I hope they keep everything together!!!!!

IMO....they will use our envelopes but re-organize how they want it....I imagine they have accordian files for this applications and then use subfiles inside their......I hope they use our envelopes because I did not write on the back of every picture I organized them in envelopes and wrote the date and place pictures were taken!!!!

As I understand it, they discard all the outer trappings received from us. The files are re-organized according to SOP (hence the no stapling recommendation) and packaged for dispatch to the VO according to internal procedures.

While going through this process and dealing with CIC is frustrating, I wouldn't want their job!

They are unionized civil servants...is it possible for them to be happy?

Haha, I was a civil servant briefly, I didn't qualify to be unionized due to the brevity of my service. However, I was happy when those I had to work with made efforts to be prepared for my visits and gave me what I asked for without questions (or at least, not too many). Nothing annoyed me more than having to ask for what I needed more than once!

Having had to deal with unionized civil servants on many occasions for many reasons, its frustrating that most of them are either afraid or don't want to step outside their job description or perform any task, provide assistance that their union says they don't have to.

As I went into civil service from the private sector, I have to tell you that was something I ran into that astounded and confounded me. I would have to remind myself that I was dealing with a very rigid structure, and that lots of people like that structure because it prevents them from being responsible for anything other than the very narrowly-defined list of tasks they were given. I was often met with "That's not my job, it's HR's job" or some such excuse when I queried something in accounting. So, of course, I would trot over to HR, only to be told by some administrative worker "That's not my decision, that's the director's decision" and I would be trotted up the ladder all the way to the senior director or whoever was in charge, who would then ask me "Well, why didn't the accountant do that?" ::) "That's above my pay-grade" is a very convenient excuse, and it is very ingrained in civil service culture.
