Hey everyone,

We are so lost, we haven't heard anything back or received anything back from CIC.

Facts:

1. Sent OWP and PR under New SLPCPC applicant, received by CIC Mississauga Nov 27 2015
2. Have not heard anything back, nor received any emails or returned mail
3. Husband is German and living with me currently

Questions:

1. Are we going to receive anything in terms of approval?
2. Why can't we check things online?
3. How do we know if something is wrong?
4. It's been over 3 months, has anyone who has a similar situation to us received anything?
5. Will the OWP just come in the mail?
6. Some people are talking abour AOR and AIP, it's been over 3 months and we haven't received ANYTHING???? is this normal????

1. You should receive your official AOR (Acknowledgment of Receipt) email from CIC, which will show you when they received your application (which as you stated would be Nov 27, 2015. Have you received this email yet?

2. You really can't, except for (hopefully) confirmation that the application has been received. You can use the Ecas system and use your information (UCI, if you have one) to see if you have a file number yet.

3. Well...either the OWP will arrive sometime in the next 30-45 days (estimate), or the OWP and/or application will be returned. If you HAVE received the official AOR email from CIC, the chances of the application being returned are mush lower. If you paid the full amount of $255 for the OWP, the chances of having it returned are quite low.

6. Sounds like you have NOT received AOR.


Your husband won't see AIP until ~ April of next year, based on the current processing times. Once he receives AIP, a decision made (DM) can happen literally any day.

1. Some people don't receive AOR. We didn't. We got OWP after 2.5 months but it seems to be taking longer to receive OWP right now - about 4/5 months.

No, you won't get declined, they'll send it back and ask you to pay the proper fee. Wait to hear from them in regards to sending the exra money.
Stop worrying (easier said than done, I know) as there is nothing you can do until you hear from them, unfortunately. And no point calling CIC either as they will tell you to call back when it has been 4 months since you sent the app (March 27).

This is SO ridiculous.

It seems like A LOT of people are making this mistake of paying only $155.00.

There has to be some other way ???

We are November 4th applicant and just received OWP last week... and still have not received AOR. I was worried for a while too, but I think things are just taking a bit longer now.

No point sending it in as you don't have a file number so it'll be harder for them to match it to your app. Wait to hear from them. Apply for restoration of status for him. You have 90 days to do it, but do it ASAP.

Because his status ended today, I think that means he doesn't qualify for an OWP anymore - can someone clarify?

Yikes!

No, sending the balance to CIC now would be impossible. It's also possible that they have already denied the OWP because of the missing payment.

Ok...IMO, he has a couple of options. The good news is that he has 90 days to apply for Restoration of Status (ROS).

1. Apply for ROS tomorrow, citing that he has an Inland sponsorship application submitted and needs to regain legal status to qualify for the OWP. If for some reason the OWP has NOT been processed yet, it will likely/probably be denied, because CIC [should] know that his status expires today.

2. Apply for ROS tomorrow (or soon), withdraw the Inland application and submit an Outland application. You can use the same receipt.
Outland applicants do not benefit from the OWP, but they generally complete the entire PR process substantially faster than an Inland applicant.
Many people are unaware that an Outland application is an option for those that are currently IN Canada.

There's no guarantee that a ROS application will be approved, but he has no choice. It would be heartless for CIC to deny the ROS, but...they have done so in the past, for reasons unknown.


I must say that this whole $100 `Permit Holder' fee has tripped up many applicants. You'd think that CIC would either make it crystal clear (on their website) and/or, allow a person that is in danger of losing their legal status, the option to pay the additional fee, along with a small penalty if they feel the need to punish the person. Sending it back...IS the ultimate punishment, IMHO.

If his status expires today, then he still has valid status until the end of the day. Apply online immediately to extend his visitor status.
