Me and my wife also cousin and we know each other since our child , it’s hard to explain and remember things , how did you manage date ?

Hi Guys,

I'm the main applicant since January 2018, no DM yet (23 months:/) but got AIP in September 2019. In my AIP, VO asked my husband for IM0008 and police clearance which was submitted and now they are asking for IMM 5490 (Proof of spousal relationship). Firstly, I find it strange that they are processing his case before giving me DM as usually main applicant gets DM before. Has this been the case of anyone else?

Secondly, I have questions about IMM 5490 as follows:

1- "Please write your name and date of birth, date the photos taken and a brief description of the context on the back of each photograph; do not provide CD, DVD, USB keys);"
This confused me as I am supposedly sending it by email so how am I suppose to write in the back of each photograph, unless they want me to mail it??

2- "Proof of contact from 2017 like printed text messages, emails or social media conversations between you and your spouse with months and years shown. Provide explanation if names used on contact differ from your passports. Provide a maximum of 10 pages"
In this part, each page of the 10 pages should have how many proofs? As much a I can fit or?? I dont really understand how they want this to be done. Any suggestions? I wish these things came with examples


3- "First contact: Did you have any contact with your sponsor before you met in person?"
This is the first question of the form which is a YES or NO question. My husband and I are childhood friends but we did get back in touch in social and asked me on a date before we met in person as adults. Does that count as a Yes we did have contact before we met in person or NO as the first time i met his was when i was 8 in school!

I thank everyone who is taking the time to help me with this. Its hard not to have a lawyer who knows these stuff and its amazing how we can share our experiences here. Thanks a lot again guys and hope we all get our cases finalized soon

Yes they asked for extra papers
At first stage my family sent two farms
Than they asked for some extra documents and proofs like marriage certificate family photos
Birth certificate etc
Third time they asked my husband to send complete travel history and detailed resume of studies and job history
They received eligibility passed letter in October
First time they send papers via courier to vo after that all papers sent via web
Yes about sponser farm I signed and send them and they submitted it with their required documents for the safe side I sent this farm to vo along with letter received from vo through my e-mail I’d

I plan to switch to open work permit and work for a while as we wait for PR. Because I will be leaving school to work. Do you guys think this will affect our application? And will I be able to work my 20hours as is stated on my study permit while waiting for my open work permit. Thank you, hoping to get a response

I guess you must send the documents via courier as VO mentioned in the letter. For the birth certificate, VO will never send you back any document you provide so you can not provide the original. You should provide certified copy ( copy certified by the authority ) of the birth certificate and it’s same as the original so no worries.

Did you file for asylum as well and get approved as a protected person? Otherwise I don’t see how you qualify for a OWP. If you stop studying you must stop work immediately.

I wasn’t the primary applicant but my mom is, I was included in her application for PR as a dependent cuz I’m under 22. I checked on the website and it says dependents of protected persons qualify for OWP. Can apply for the OWP permit and complete school at a later date. I’m on Study at the moment and it expires in September for renewal. I want to apply for OWP as a dependent of protected persons
