Hello all,

I am putting together my application to Sponsor my parents from Saudi Arabia and have a question regarding overage dependent.

Some background on the situation. My parents migrated from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia more than 35 years ago. 2 of my sisters were born in Pakistan and they came with my parents. My brother and I were born in Saudi Arabia. I then migrated to Canada and now a citizen. One of my sisters got married and moved out of the house with her husband. My brother lives with my parents.

My other sister has pretty much always been a dependent on my parents. She did her bachelors from online university in Pakistan a while back and have been living with my parents ever since. Never got married and never got an employment and currently not in school.

Now, when I am putting together application package for my parents I am confused whether or not my sister is a dependent. Yes, she's older than 22 and no she's not physically or mentally challenged but she cannot support by herself.

I need some advice. Should I put in a regular application for my parents and figure out my sister situation later OR should I put her as a dependent and try to provide explanation ? In my interest form I did not include my sister so the first option will be a lot easier. If I go with the 2nd option then I would need to contact CIC to update the interest form as well as try to justify why she's a dependent.

Your sister cannot be a dependent. It seems you already know the needed requirements to be declared one.

She needs to find a job and be independent as she cannot be included in the sponsorship of your parents.
