My boyfriend lives in BC, and I live in Ontario... he is on a work specific visa that doesn't allow him to move... and I have my daughter here so its not in her best interest to move either. We spoke briefly with an immigration lawyer who said that we can do in Outland sponsorship so he can stay in BC and work while during the processing time, so he doesn't have to quit right away and not work for 4 months while we wait for an open work permit.

What I would like to know is do we have to be married to do an outland sponsorship?
Can we do a common-law out land sponsorship since we have been together for over a year or does it only work if were married?

If you haven't lived together for 12 months, you cannot do common law. You would need to be married.
