One more question - how will travel to the US and back work while she is here on a temporary status? Will there be any issues travelling to the US or crossing back into Canada?
Not really, as long as she uses the right language and can show proof of her PR application. Of course, every border entry is unique, so it's difficult to say whether she will receive trouble or not whenever she crosses. Generally, when a PR applicant knows the rules, CBSA is friendlier and has no issue with traveling to and from regularly. Again, the whole "ties" to the US thing may come up, so if a standard lease agreement with her family in the us is an option, it would be a good backup *if* it ever becomes an issue.
