That is one of the dangers of applying outland while you are in Canada. An inland sponsorship is exempt from giving biometrics. You have to stay in Canada while it processes. An outland sponsorship has no requirement to stay in Canada, but must leave Canada for interviews or for biometrics.

Not if you have any visa from Canada in your passport. My passport does require visa to Panama but I went in due to my Canadian work visa

They are required for all applicants, and the danger of an outland application in Canada. The applicant must leave Canada to have the biometrics conducted. Unless she has a valid US visa and is already in the US, she cannot have them done in the US.

There are no biometrics collection points in Canada for PR applications.

Hi there, I am in a similar situation. I am a Canadian citizen but my wife is a Bangladeshi citizen with U.S and Canadian tourist visas. She is currently visiting me in Canada while her Outland PR application is being processed. We just received the email for biometrics but since she just got here, I dont want her to leave home and come back later. We are wondering if we can just cross the border into the U.S and get it done? I read on the forum that some people have done so but I am wondering if there will be any issues.

If someone can please let me know, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you

She can certainly try. Many people have been able to go to the US to complete biometrics without issue.

Yes, she can do this if she has a valid visitor visa that allows her to enter the US. However, when going through customs, people have advised to provide a different reason for visiting the US rather than biometrics because the border agent might give you a hard time or deny you entry for giving that as a reason.

Thank you for the reply. As I was trying to book an appointment on their website, the homeland security website asks for the IRCC.

Now my main concern is that even if I tell the border agent I am going shopping for a day or to visit family, once they look at my wife's passport, will their internal system will show that shes going for a biometric appointment?

I'm not 100% sure if they can see it or not because we don't know what information IRCC shares with USCIS. But getting biometrics in the US isn't discouraged or anything. You're allowed to do that and you're not doing anything illegal by doing so. It's just that US customs wants a reason more than just doing biometrics as a reason for visiting the country.
