Has anyone here been out of status in the United States or was and succesfully moved to Canada, applied in your home country from here? When they asked for your status in yourr country of resident which is or was the US, what did you put down? If you put down out of status, did you have a problem?

Thank you!!!

Some people have even applied through the US inspite of having been illegal there and have succeeded. If you were originally let in on a one year visa, apparently you can apply in the US. The problem with applying in your home country is that if you are called in for an interview, you have to go there so it could be hard for you to get back to the US again.

I was here only in a 6-month visa. The reason I do not want to apply here is because if I send my application and wait for 12 to 16 months and then get a refusal for being out of status and then having to apply in my home country, I will be wasting a lot of time. If I am called for an interview, it will be a chance I will have to take. I heard that in my home country, they usually do not call for an interview. I was wondering if my status here influence on their decision there.

Thank you.
