IOM Ho Chi Minh City is now accepting passport submissions to Singapore V.O. My wife successfully submitted her passport today.

So, IOM was not taking passports (probably due to "new procedures"). Now they are back to accepting passports.

yeah, it is weird. her birth certificate does have her full date of birth but her family registry and her ID doesn't. when she went and got her passport done, they only required her household registry, i think, and so that's what they used for her date of birth.

yes, i will definitely include an explanation. i called CIC today and they said to do exactly what you said i should do. thanks mikeymyke.

No problem, if you need anything else, post here. I check this thread often.

Another question for you guys, when they request passport, why do you have to do it through IOM and not just simply mailing it directly to Singapore?

When we received the email to submit passport, SVO instructed to use VFS/IOM. They clearly state in the email that they will not be responsible for lost passport if you use registered mail or courier.
quote:
"Passports are sent by registered mail or courier at the applicant’s risk and expense. The High Commission
will NOT be responsible for passports lost during shipment."

You could simply mail it. But why the risk when you don't have to.

form IMM 5490, sponsored spouse questionnaire, when filling it out and saving, then wanting to add or edit at a later time, the pdf doesn't allow me to this, saying "extended features is no longer available". is this normal? if so, i can only fill it out once and then have to print it out?

also, wherever a question requires a separate sheet of paper to fully answer the question, do we leave the space blank on the form, or do we add something like, "see attached sheet" in that space?

YES! That's VERY annoying! But good news is that seems to only happen on IMM 5490, the rest should be fine. If you want to fix that, you should download Adobe Pro (free trial version) and you can fix this problem.

http://www.adobe.com/ca/products/acrobatpro.html

You don't need to fill it out all at once, just use the free Adobe Pro (but it only lasts 30 days).

If a question requires separate sheet, what I do is on the form, I just type (see separate sheet - Addendum to IMM 5490). Addendum to IMM 5490 is the title of the separate sheet of paper. Don't forget to write your full name, and for every question you answer on the separate sheet, make sure you write the question number and the actual question clearly.

also write on the separate sheet of paper ur name and date of birth, and question number and the actual form number u are referring to. Download Foxit Reader to fix ur PdF problem. Totally free.
