your GCMS are just like mine. I dont know what HIRv and org crimes stand for but they r not required for each applicant so dont bother about them. security and criminality r two independent checks. security checks are not written as PASSED, you can check if they have worked on ur security checks by checking the activity section of the GCMS. the most informative part of GCMS is the last section of notes. It can tell u the test info of your file. hope this helps.

Thanks mustang72 The First note is from Ottawa office 07 March 2012 "No Adverse information RPRF outstanding once paid then ready for Visa"
But I still don't have Passed against Security, not sure if they fill every single field in the form, or notes can override others.

dont work about security check. from the notes its look like that they have processed ur file and now hopefully PPR is the next step. if ur file in Ottawa then I will recommend u to email Ottawa office regarding the status of ur file. they r very nice and will exactly tell u when u can expect to have PPR.

Unfortunately, it has been transferred to Buffalo on 21 March, I sent a case specific enquiry today.

Hello Adeeb,

As you suggested i sent an email to Ottawa office, and the replied as:

"The officer responsible for your file will contact you if any action is required from you."

What does that mean, do they have my case or its just automated reply.

Thanks,
Affi

I believe they have your file otherwise they will ask you to forward your request to buffalo, it doesn't look like an auto reply. Maybe they are still finalizing your case. I guess.

Lets hope for the best, do they physically transfer the files between CIC offices or just electronic transfer of the files?

Both. The electronic file is assigned to a visa office, plus the paper application travels as well.

Adeeb, do they ask for PCC (Police Clearance Certificate) again when files get transfer to Ottawa?

Thanks,
Affi

Thanks Adeeb I really appreciate your response. Any idea what they check when they say your file is up for additional background check? Did that happen to you and how long does it take?

Thanks,
Affi

:) It is almost impossible to answer this question but I will try; the background & security checks are done by CSIS to determine whether you or your family members are a security risk to Canada. They check into your background, the schools you attended, organizations you have been part of, military service, jobs you have had and security clearances you have been granted... CSIS has local agents around the world, it could be part of the canadian embassies. These checks will be done in each and every country you've resided in - how long it takes depends on how many countries you've lived/worked in, and how fast their local agencies.

when they say your file is up for additional background check; it might be something was not well checked and they need to make sure of it before they issue the visa. it is not something serious I guess, because if it is, they would have rejected your application, so don't worry.
