This should help people kill some time while waiting....
Examples:
Application fee change - I doubt they would lower it, especially with bigger volume of applications and limited funding, reducing the fee would basically be suicidal to them

Reduction of application fee but with option of fast processing for additional fee - it would probably make much more sense in some way

Point system (just like PR or express entry ), people with higher points get processed first - highly unlikely , but that’s just my guess

Etc....

And, tomorrow google is going to unvail its new cellphone ! I guess nobody in this forum would care about that one lol

Reduction of fees? If anything they might increase them. The option of fast processing already exists in the urgent application option. However, it is not open for everyone, only specific cases that meet certain urgency requirements.

No I didn't mean 'urgent' processing, just faster processing, similar to the premium processing service in the US immigration/visa system, when you pay $1000 (?) extra and are guaranteed to hear some results (approve or deny or further examination) within 2 weeks. They need more money, applicants have different levels of anxiety and some are willing ( and can afford) to pay more to get it over with sooner, then the extra money from this would help CIC hire more people and buy more equipment - it would be a win-win for everybody

Good idea

Faster processing for more money won't happen. That will allow the wealthy to take advantage and it will not go well politically for them to seem like they are catering to the rich.
Lowering of fees wont happen. Liberal gov is already running deficits for everything else. They cannot afford to pay for our citizenship fees.
Minister will announce all the things expected to go live in fall according to their last update.
- physical presence 3/5
- credit for pre PR
- age range for language.

Hopefully he goes over how they plan to tackle on the extra backlog. Perhaps process improvements/enhancements? A way to apply online instead of mailing in application would be nice but unlikely.

agree, but he has 30 minutes to talk about things, and all the 3 things you listed will only take 3 minutes at most... what else is he going to say for the remaining 27?

He will talk about how great bill C6 is, how the liberals kept their promise, etc. Then he will announce the effective date followed by questions for 10 minutes.

Sounds interesting, but the Canadian culture (especially a Liberal admin) does not like jumping the queue for $ when it comes to bureautic issues. Maybe under a conservative admin...MAYBE.

I know... it's just like the free healthcare system here, you have no option to pay some money to get looked at sooner, and have to wait for long time to see your family doctors, then again wait for long time to see a specialist, and probably be dead before that ..

Are we expecting to hear specific dates not just sometime in fall?
they already said sometime in fall a while ago didn't they?
they tweet it as 'exciting news', if they say 'sometime in fall' it wouldn't be exciting at all, except for a few who will become eligible under 4/6 in October
