OPNP is on-hold?

Today I contacted CIC to ask why my BOWP application is still "on-hold" after more than two months. They said the reason is: the province that nominated you has their program on-hold, (or something like that) and we can't use your nominee letter to process your application! ???

This made me so worried and confused. Do you guys know what's going on?! Can this also affect PR applications for OPNP applicants? :

I applied for my wife's work permit n i m also opnp applicant and today application changed to on hold.. but thanks for information..

i did they said you are approved by us now its with CIC and dont have any information bou backlog

Oh my God! This does not bode well! I am so scared!
At the least, this makes Ontario nominee PR applications take longer to be finalized.
I hope they don't reject our applications.
CIC is not transparent at all. We need to know what's going on; getting information from them is like pulling hen's teeth!

OMG!! I am actually sh*tting bricks at the moment! I got my OPNP nomination in April, and my PR application reached CIO just yesterday! My PGWP expires in Nov 2014, so I was going to apply for the B-OWP after getting my AoR.
What's this "on hold" non-sense all about?! Anybody has more details on it??

If the federal Gov decide to cancel Ontario PNP. Will the past PNP certificate be withdrawn?
If the CIC cut all the PNP applicants as they past did with SW and Investment immigrant, the Canadian Government would lost all the reputation and we should not trust the future program any more.

When I talked to them they just told me: we can't process your WP application at this time, you can use your old (expired) work permit, you have implied status, until a decision is made (I am not sure if this "decision" he mentioned is regarding PR application or OPNP being on-hold). I suggest you too call them and ask if you need to apply for BOWP or you can just use the old work permit.

If they really want to cancel the program, why is Opportunities Ontario accepting 2500 Nominees for 2014, about two times that of 2013 (1300 nominees)?

I would not panic just yet - there is no indication that the government wants to cancel OPNP. If they did, they would not have increased the number of spots from 1300 to 2500 in 2014.

Quality Assurance is basically a check to see if the Ontario PNP program is run well at the provincial level. Until QA is finished (who knows when?), we will probably not get any updates. Even if they decide to terminate some part of PNP (a specific program), I don't think they'd withdraw certificates of people who already applied to CIC.

I think that in the worst case our applications will take longer to process and/or will go through more scrutiny. What we can do in the meantime is to request our GCMS notes to see all the movements of our CIC files and contact OPNP to see if they have any updates.

Hello all. I know it is often difficult to wait but lets not create panic and jump into conclusions based on rumors. If there are issues with OPNP, then ontario should not be issuing new certificates with an increased cap of 2500 from 1300. There is no official declaration on cic website. Also cic is not an ontario thing but Canada thing. pr through pnp does not make one provincial pr but pr at national level and can live anywhere. I am not sure they would on one hand take 1500 CAD and put it on hold on the other. The problem has started from mis may only. Also, applicants with missing documents are still being requested for the same and credit cards are being charged. It does not make sense.
I am waiting for aor for 3 months. i sent cic and email and got a response. They mentioned it is in process and going through initial review. i will be updated in due course. No mention about hold or changes.

Someone's GCMS notes show that they are holding ON PNP files to wait for further instructions. Even if you got ur file number, it will be held at a later stage.

thats right moonbow. however i m wondering if someone's gcms notes says that. can we conclude that its for all applications?
Also someone mentioned that his status changed from hold to ip in ottawa-cpc.. i read in another thread "2014 PR Applications for OPNP

the point is there something going on with OPNP applications n no one have clear answer why only OPNP ... not even opportunities ontario...
