Hi Guys,

I applied for an Open Work Permit through the OPNP certificate, its been on hold for over a month.

I was wondering if anyone else applied for Work Permits through PNP certificate ? Are all applications are still ON HOLD ?

Thanks.

Applied 2nd June and still waiting! :o >:(

Thanks for your reply.

There are two quota is OPNP :
1) Nominee Quota.
Nominee Quota is full for this year, if any one haven't received certificate it means your application is moved to next year. (Mostly Master students prefer this Program)

2) Employer Quota.
In Employer Quota, your company files PNP for you, for those applicants, PNP quota is still open for 2014.

Did you get any response from the pre-screening stage yet?

My CIC package with OPNP certificate(intl student with job offer) reached CIO on may 23rd.

No AOR or communication yet.
Very worried as my post graduate work permit expires in 4 months.

Did you try calling OPNP or CIC? I wonder what they would say. Can you use the letter of nomination from OPNP to extend the work permit?

My file reached CIC exactly 1 month before yours, so I was lucky to receive AOR. I have 10 months left on my work permit, but I am worried that in 6 months I'll be in your shoes as well...

How long did it take for you to receive AOR from CIC? I mean from the date file reached.

Update:

I received an email tonight requesting RPRF and PC. Sounds like they have started working on applications.

What makes me furious is that I send them PC before as a separate package from my application, and somehow it seems they have lost it! :o

I think that happens a lot.

OK, they have apparently started processing the applications.
Referring to my previous post, the PC was not lost, just because it was past its expiration, they wanted a new one. I explained that I haven't left the Canada since the issue date of the last PC; I hope this makes them reconsider the PC requirement.

GUYS,

From what I've read on OPNP and CIC's website (links below) if you applied for nomination and have your certificate with you, you can use your nomination certificate along with a letter of support from OPNP to apply for a temporary work permit both before and after you apply for PR. According to the laws, only Ontario has this and it is meant to allow nominees who are going to lose status to remain in Canada legally and working too. So basically if you've been nominated but haven't applied for the PR yet you dont need to think about the Bridging work permit, there is another work permit called a Temporary work permit. Please give these links a read and tell me if you understand differently. I will be calling OPNP and CIC on Monday and two lawyers on Tuesday to obtain validation. Please read these websites and let me know what you understand too.

Since I''m not allowed to post the links ill describe what to type into google search:

Opportunities Ontario What's Next?

Operational Bulletin 406 - April 19, 2012

International Mobility Program: Canada–provincial or territorial agreements [R204(c)] (exemption code T13)

Also I'm reading about losing status and restoring it and it seems like you can apply for this work permit 90 days after yours expires as long as you stop working.

Search: "My work permit expired and I did not apply to extend it. Can I stay and keep working in Canada?"
