Here's the jist. I separated to be divorced then two weeks later I met my new partner and we're about to be married. The divorce is final now. But should I write a letter saying this to immigration or do they even care so long as I have the divorce paper?
Thanks in advance for the input

I was married before. After we separated to be divorced by two weeks, I met my new wife. But it was a simple introduction at that time. We didn't do anything until the divorce was final from the previous marriage. Do I need to explain all this to CIC or do they even care?

As long as you didn't re-marry while the divorce was still pending, you shouldn't have any problems.

CIC loves letters of explanation, so you should write a letter explaining your situation more in detail, this way they will have no doubt over the timeline of your relationship.

Thank you avdava. Yes I will do just that. It was just that everything happened so sudden and fast I thought an explanation would be wise but I just didn't know if they will read. It was only meeting her at thst time and nothing was official until after the divorce was final.
"Handsup", no I didn't sponsor my ex-wife. She was Canadian. All I was saying is that when I met my new wife, I was only 2 weeks in the separation period with my previous wife and the divorce was not final. Just was asking if it was wise I explain that to CIC. But avadava gave me a decision I will take into consideration.
Thanks guys

How long was your first marriage?

What is the ground for divorce?

What's the length of your separation period?

Does it matter? Well the marriage lasted 8 years. She couldn't conceive and that led to other problems and the marriage fell apart. The separation only lasted 4 months before the divorce was final. I don't think the length of the separation is relwvant considering we don't make these rules. But yes it happened fast. But 11 days after the separation, i had met my new wife
Lol please let us not make this as if it's a judgement based on my previous wife. In the end I met someone to move on

On your previous posts, I was confused about whether your first marriage or the separation lasted 2 weeks.

Assuming you file the divorce in Canada, it requires minimum one year separation period unless cruelty or adultery is involved.

Go back to your question, it doesn't hurt to provide explanation on how your present relationship was developed from the beginning, and that is also something you need to provide on the form IMM 5490 anyway.

+1

Divorce paper showing a date before you got remarried and a short letter of explanation should be enough.
