Hi there,
seeking a clarification on some information on my application for permanent residence under spouse in Canada class

I have rec'd a letter (today) saying that i have met the eligibility req'ment and i have to supply a medical from a doctor in canada, which i am about to do...(i did the medical exam in my own country and the results were forwarded to the canadian embassy there)....the letter goes on to say "...you may apply for an open work permit, which will allow you to work in the occupation and location of your choice."....

however, when i called today to get clarificaton on the issue, the agent told me that it was inadvisable to proceed with the owp application until it was confirmed that my medical forms had completely processed and been received (1-3 mths)...he did say that if i applied for one right away the application would be rejected and my fees would not be refunded...

has anyone else heard of this happening to them or been thru it?

this is my ecas timeline:

Hi Lonewake,

Any word on this? My wife and I are in a very similar situation and would like to know if you managed to get the OWP and how, how long it took and so on.

Thank you for sharing!

sorry cant help you there... we sent in my husband's medicals long before we received first stage approval. so when we got the letter that told us he could now apply for an open work permit, we applied with no problems. maybe call back and talk to a different agent. if he tells you the same thing then i guess wait for the medical.
