open work permit

hi
i had applied for my husband s pr in april 2014 within canada. he got his open work permit on janaury 10 2015. but it says its gonna expire in september 2015 with his passport.can we renew his opw?
also is this the first stage approval? the time for initial assesment is 17 months but we got the opw within 9 months. m really confused!!!!

I would suggest you join the Family Sponsorship section of this forum and read through the posts there. OWP for inland applicants are now being issued before the initial assessment is complete.

Your husband needs to renew his passport. Once his OWP is close to expiring, he can apply for an extension.
