open work permit

hi all
I'm under a live-in caregiver program and has sent my application for PR since Apr 2010. My old work permit expired on Oct 2010 and I have got my open work permit on Feb 2012.

I have copy of all my application and the receipt which included the fee for my husband, myself and the open work permit.

The issue now is I'm pregnant EDD Apr 2013 and I already sent application to take Mat leave.

the EI officer called and said there is a gap between the old work permit and the open work permit. She wants a letter from immigration saying that i have apply for my open work permit before the old one expired and for some issue it took a year to get open work permit and I was implied status to work.

My question is Can the immigration office give me that letter?

I tried to call many times a day but they seem really busy /:

hi im a lic also with an owp...i applied my mat leave last feb. 8 my due date is april 13...and i received my 1st payment on my mat leave...hope u can sort ur problems out.cic is unpredictable!

It's not cic it's the service Canada. You can show them your AIP letter from immigration. I'm sure you have that letter or you can check your application status in cic website then print that document showing when They received you pr application and start processing. Bring also you record of employment or t4. Is your OWP still valid? What is now your status of your pr application? July 2010 you should be pr by now.
