Open work permit under family class in Canada

Good day everyone
I am currently in Canada on open work permit which is expiring next year. My husband and I recently married in Canada and my husband is PR here. I am going to apply for open work permit extension along with my PR file under family class in Canada category. My question is that on form 5710e (extend my stay as a worker) there are 4 options under question #3.
Question is: I am applying for one or more of the following
1. apply for a work permit with the same employer 2. apply for a work permit for the first time or with the new employer
3. restore my status as a worker 4. get a new temporary residence permit

I am not so sure which option should I choose from the first 2 options since 3rd and 4th does not apply on me. because option 1 sounds like as if I am applying for a employer specific work permit. Option 2 looks like the best option but it also says as if I am applying for the work permit for the first time or with new employer but as I mentioned I am applying for the extension. Please let me know which option should I choose.

The question is, how did you get an open work permit in the first place? These are not common, so depending on what you have, you'll know if you can extend it or not.

I came to Canada on a student visa and after study I got a work permit. so thats how I got my work permit in the first place which is valid till Jan 2023.

The question is, how did you get an open work permit in the first place? These are not common, so depending on what you have, you'll know if you can extend it or not.

I came to Canada on a student visa and after study I got a work permit. so thats how I got my work permit in the first place which is valid till Jan 2023.

I didn't see wording about a work permit extension. I think you are applying for an open work permit. And you can continue to work if you are currently under another work permit and can be in maintance status until the approval of the open work permit.

1. I’m assuming that you currently a PGWP and these are not renewable:https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=676&top=29#:~:text=No.,at a designated learning institution.
2. If you read carefully, in the link you shared it is not mentioned anywhere anything about a “work permit extension.” You can even search the keyword “extension” and it will find nothing. These are therefore instructions to apply for a new work permit.
In conclusion and answer to your question: you are applying for a work permit for the first time, because this is an OWP under a different program. Option 2 in the form.
Plan to apply for sponsorship and OWP before your current PGWP expires if you want to keep working.
