My common-law partner is moving to Montreal for a 2-years postdoctoral stay at McGill University. I have applied for an open work permit, but it has been denied as it is not proven that we have cohabited for more than 12 months.
I would like to know if there is any way to appeal, as we think this is not correct. The resolution document does not include any means to appeal.
Otherwise, would it be possible to enter Canada with a tourist visa and try to get the work permit while I am at Montreal?
