Hello, my boyfriend is applying for PR through me and common law sponsorship and he is also applying for a open work visa to bridge the time between his visa expiring and getting his residency. I just have a couple questions about it,

For question #1 it asks for first entry to Canada, is that the first time he ever set foot in Canada? He came as a tourist in 2012 and shortly after got a working visa and came back.

It also asks on #4 it asks for the document number of his most recent visa, there is a number of numbers on the form which one are they asking for?

Part two asks for his details of his intended work and details of any perspective offers, does he need this if he is getting an open work visa through spousal sponsorship? And if he does, he is a self employed plumber in Canada so how would he go about that?

Also how long would it take, if filled out perfectly for the open work visa to go through? Thank you!

Thank you so much for any help or insight!

#1 his first entry as a tourist.

#4 When he crossed the border last, did he have a document issued to him? What they are looking for is the document that is granting him status right now.

Intended work details and employer are left blank.

And if he does, he is a self employed plumber in Canada so how would he go about that?
Hopefully, he is not working as a self-employed plumber, without a permit.

OWP's generally take 4 months from the receipt date to be granted. He will have implied status until they have decided.

I agree. If his existing work permit expires before the OWP arrives, he should NOT work until it arrives.

The interim Implied Status that the OWP provides only covers him as a visitor, not as a worker, until it has been received.

He does not need to list anything about potential employers (even if self employed). Just choose `New, or initial work permit' and `Employer unknown' (or similar).
