Hi everyone,
This is my original story:
June 1st 2015, my partner and I sent off our papers for a sponsorship. My partner is Canadian and she's sponsoring me for a PR. At the same time, we sent of the application for an Open work permit. Alas, I have yet to receive it. Unfortunately, when we paid for it online, we did not choose the work permit fee option and instead, only paid for the OWP holder fee. So after about 8 weeks, I rechecked the information and noticed the mistake and informed CIC about it. The letter (from CIC) stated that I was missing the document which would change my status in the country and that I had to fill it and also send of the missed payment. I quickly filled in the required document and attached the missing payment. That was around early september. I was told by a call centre agent that it was going to be added on to my file and that it did NOT mean that I was re-applying. I've called several times and I've been told to call back on November 24th if I haven't received anything by then. Then I've been told that date has no significance and that I may not receive it at all. And finally, I've been told that I need to re-apply because my visitor status is about to run out, yet I already sent the documentation for that a couple of months ago. The call centre agents have all given me very different answers and no one knows when I should receive it by. I was so desperate, I went to Mississauga to find the processing centre but ended up just finding a PO box.
So, I applied to ATIP so that they could send me my file notes. They replied say they could find no such document and the call centre agent has also said the same thing today. The call centre agent told me to call on November 24th as its next time they can send a message to the processing centre( so that date did have a significance). The thing is, it's been 3 months and the processing centre didn't reply to the first prompt. Why should they reply to the second? Also, the call centre agent advised me to re-apply, but the amount of paperwork I need to do and to find the same notary to sign my paperwork is almost impossible. What should I do? No one is giving me a straight answer. Is this going to be a waiting game? I've sent of complaints, feedback forms and the lot, but it's almost as if no one cares.
P.s the missing document I completed back in September was an extension of stay, so does that mean I need to apply for temporary resident visa? I came in May and my time here is almost up on a visitor status. I'm a British citizen.
Please help!
