I'm sponsoring my wife and her dependent son for an Inland application with an open work permit for her. Does anyone know if it is possible to also apply for an OWP for her son?

He is in currently in Canada under a student visa that allows part time work (20hrs/week) if that makes any difference.

Thanks.

No, there is no OWP option for dependent children in spousal apps.

How old is he? Is he studying at university or college?

Make sure the application is received by CIC before he turns 19. Ideally you should submit the application at least six months before he turns 19 (sometimes applications are returned because they are incomplete).

@scylla Yes, unfortunately we don't have the luxury of that much time so we are aiming for it to be complete the first time around.

On a somewhat related matter, since her son is here on a student visa, he will be able to leave and re-enter Canada without fear of being denied entry, is that correct?
