***Open a bank account in Canada remotely***

Hey guys

Does anybody know how we can open up a bank account in Canada on-line, in our name and wire the money.

Just so you know I got money transferred from an uncle two weeks back in my Indian bank account and I have to apply for study permit like asap and got no time to get a 4-6 months bank statement.

I' thinking to get an account opened up in Canada just so it can fulfil the proof of funds requirement ("proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada") while applying for study permit.

You can get in touch with Kotak Mahindra. They have tie up with Scotia Bank and can open a Canadian bank account for you from India.

For the bank statements just go to the bank and get the statement for all the money you got there, it takes minutes. Proving that you have a Canadian bank in your name is not mandatory so you do not need to open an account, the most important things about the financial support are Bank Statements, Employment Letter and the letter from the person providing you with money. but the more documents you provide the better anyway.

I am also interested to know whether it is possible to open a bank account remotely for the reason of transferring the money before landing in Canada since in my situation I will leave the residence country forever.

Hii kool keith, do we need to show the bank statements of 4-6 months old of our scotia bank account in canada or statement of our sponsors account as a proof of funds ?? And is it okk if i show bank statement of my GIC account which are 5-6 months old in my name ???
