Hello Seniors,

We are planning to land next month and would like some clarifications -

1) Do we need photos to submit at the POE ?
2) Do we need Canadian auto insurance while crossing the border. We have Geico, and they offer coverage for travelling purpose only. Can we use that for landing, and buy new when in Canada?
3) Which is the best Auto insurance in Alberta ?

one of the main issues will be to get title from DMV on time. in NY it takes 6 - 12 weeks

We should contact RIV on Monday to clarify. I'm in the same situation. But we will have to pay the taxes like other Canadians importing car as the vehicle should be six months in use by the Settler before landing. Even then it will be cheaper to take from US then buy in Canada.

Thank you so much for the info. I called the doctor and he said he had a copy and he is going to call Ottawa and found out what is going on. and he also told me if necessary he will send a copy.

The practitioners usually keep a copy of the results. This is not the first case it has happened don't panic the doctor is the one that has to get in touch with Ottawa and get the whole issue sorted out. I have talked with my doctor quite a few times because my file was stuck in NY and I thought it was due to the medicals so I went talked to the doctor and he sent a message to Ottawa to make sure everything was in order and it was so they do have the power to contact cic and get thing right. Hi seniors ! Thanks for your support and guidelines in this form . At last after a long wait I got my PR request two days back and I m planning to land next month . I am try to make a check list for every one in this form regarding landing process . Please up date if I left with any thing , as I have not much information about it :-

1. Landing Point :- Calgary or any other part of Canadian border :- which is safe ?

2. List to carry :- The goods to follow and the goods you carry ?

3. Funds :- In shape of cash or money order or travel cheque ?

4. Car Import :- Custom Clearance from USA Border ... inform them 72 hours before ? any other documents to carry

5. PR Card :- Need to provide Alberta address or any other address will work .

6. Car Fuel System :- I have red somewhere that you have to update your car according to Canadian fuel system ? any one know this ?

7. Travel to back home :- After landing can I fly back to my home country or I have to wait till my Sin no. arrives . ?

Any up date will be appreciated .....

I am landing in Calgary on 06/22/2011 and returning back to USA (via Buffalo border) on 06/25/2011. Please let me know if anybody is coming from Toronto to Buffalo(i.e: Road) on 06/25/2011 so that I will share expenditures.
I need to reach Buffalo airport before 6 PM on 06/25/2011.
