All NY guys,

Any idea whats taking such a long time at the NY office. I mean it looks to me that getting file transferred to NY or file staying at buffalo are the same, makes no difference. Infact buffalo seems to be sending pprs now, which makes it better than NY processing time. Upon that you dont have to wait 25 days to get your visa stamped, you can fly to buffalo and get it done. But whereas in NY, you can only mail and you will receive it only after 25 days.

Man mine was transferred on dec 2nd, 2010 and till now there is no update whatsoever....I dont know how long i need to wait.

Dear_pnp,

My file was transferred on OCT 22, 2010 to NYC and here I am... STILL WAITING ..

PEACE AND PATIENCE TAKE YOU A LONG WAY... In my case, they took my application processing from 2009 TO 2011... ;)

Lets HOPE and HOPE and HOPE..

oh man Oct 22nd and still no update. I guess only the update of Medical received that you had back in november. Man waiting for more 2 months is not easy, i mean the wait time gets on your nerves. I have so much on my plan and all of that is on hold due to this wait time. I feel paralyzed. It doesnt make me feel excited anymore...I dont know how much I need to wait.

Did you send them any email? Any reply.

Friends,

It seems many folks have the address link missing on their e-cas. There is a seperate thread in the forum on the missing address link.
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/change-of-address-gone-from-ecas-t63851.0.html

According to some, It seems be a tehnical bug and the address link re-appears after some time. Don't know what the actual reason is .. Lets be OPTIMISTIC

Dear_pnp: - I sent NYC an email on Jan 10, 2011 and I am told that the file is in final stages of processing. No news yet.....

Hello everyone,

Finally, landed in Calgary on Feb 06, 2011... it was a long journey and still its like the beginning of the next phase.... settle, job, adapt to the weather etc... Its really cold here and lots of snow.... Immigration at the airport went smoothly. It took her 10 minutes for each of us (me, wife and a child) and finally she was like congratulations now you are the permanent resident of Canada ... :D.
Have applied for SIN #, Health Insurance and working on getting driver's license... It is very important that you bring driver's license (which I didn't for some reason) with you where ever you coming from as registry gives it significant consideration. Hoping to get a job soon... Good luck to you all and appreciate all the help I got here and let me know if you know someone who is looking for a seasoned business analyst in Calgary :D

Dear friends,

For planning purposes, can someone tell me what formalities does one need to complete for landing? My job in USA is till the end of 2012. My medicals were done in Dec. 2010 and so it seems like I will have to "land" in Canada by Dec. 2011. I want to land and then come back and work here in the US till the end of my H1B. I want to complete all the Canadian permanent resident formalities and have the permanent card with me so that when my H1B is over, I can move to Canada without any hassles.

Thanks for the information friends. You all are awesome.

You need to be in Canada for 3 years out of 5. That technically means you have 2 years to move permanently after landing. You should be fine with your plans. Do not worry.

3 yrs out 4 to get citizenship or 2 out of 5 to renew PR.
