Hi King80,

I live in Easton, PA. I am planning to dispose my furniture (either Sell or donate to Good Will) and plan to fly to Calgary.
However, I am still undecided about my shipping or driving my SUV to Calgary.

A friend of mine in NJ is also waiting for Passport request (AINP) and he too was exploring the option of taking his stuff/furniture to Calgary.

Renting a truck is expensive, however we can discuss the options of driving together and work out a better solution.

Regarding Money, At the port of Entry we have to declare if we are carrying more than $10k.
I don't think there is a limit on the money you can take to Canada as long as you declare it at the border POE.
The best option is online transfer OR Check deposit for large amounts.

Sunderjeet and King80 - PM me for contact details.

Hi Avalaap,

I am also planning to move to Calgary as soon as i get my PPR. I have some questions going in my mind. Thought will share with since you are moving to Calgary.

I am in PA and thinking to land via Montana to Alberta. Question that arises in my mind is how much stuff i can carry with me. The thing is if i travel by road and take my car, not all the stuff is going to fit in the car along with the family :). Can we rent something ..... any Advice????

How much in dollars we can take along. Since i will be moving i want to take all with me to calgary.

By the way, Medicals reached Sep 8th, no other update yet.

Hi Avalap,

Can you please share more details on the truck renting expense and how does that work?

Thanks,

Ell.Bee,

As of now my thoughts are as good as white board :-\.
Yet to do the research. Will share the details as I find them.

Hi,

I have moved only once in the US and that too my company had a door to door move with their packers. What I heard from others is that self move is much cheaper. You can find handy men to load at point of origin and drive to your destination. At destination find someone to help with unloading. But I am not sure how it works from US to Canada.

Is there anyone on the forum who has more details on one way rentals for Penske, Uhaul etc?

Thanks,

L.B
