My updates...

On Tuesday I went to LA CIC office expecting to get a decision on the same day. They took my application and said they need 3 days to process work permit. The lady at the counter was very helpful. She checked my file and also checked with an officer abt the US visa situation, as I had a pending H1B extension they accepted my application.

Today the lady called me saying my work permit was approved and they will mail the passports on Monday.

hi, jxyj01,
I did it in April 2010.

My medicals reached Ottawa on July 2nd. Not sure if my case is under background check. If it is going through background check, most likely, it is security check. Because for provincial nominees they do not have full details of employers and schools. For Federal Skilled workers they do ask for school transcripts and full employer details like company letterhead, full address, phone number, fax #, business card etc. Securities checks are done by CSIS. Just my two cents.

Congrats!
It is great that you got work permit but I m really surprised that they did not issue pr related visa since u have done Medicals in July and they have to background checks for work permit anyways.
Did you apply for cic application from south west area? One of the guys I know applied from buffalo and they did issue pr related visa in that case

Anyways congrats once again!

Hi everybody,
I am going to India for my marriage in first week of december.
I am waiting for RPRF and passport request.I applied for PR under PNP.
Ottawa received my medical request on 6th Aug 2010.if I didn't receive Passport request
till first week of dec. Will it affect my passport and RPRF request ?
Another thing I have applied for H1B Extension which is on intial review
.if I go to India and due to some reasons if I didn'come back to USA.
Can I get Canada PR from India or any body from USA can go on my behalf
to CIC Buffalo get PR stamping for me.

I will really appreciate if you give your inputs on this.

Can you clarify your first question?

CIC does not transfer files to other locations. You will have to send your passport with an authorized representative to have it stamped, in case you cannot return. Make sure somebody in the states, has access to your mail, just in case CIC asks for your RPRF/passport request via regular mail.

Even if your office accepts more than 2000 applications every month, there must be a procedure in processing those applications. There is a big discrepancy how your office processes applications after medicals are completed. Some candidates get the process completed one month after the medicals, some 2 months after the medicals. I did my medicals 4 months back and my application is complete. I have attached the rule book for Provincial Nominees. It clearly says that Visa Officer should process file as soon as the application is complete. We were promised shorter processing time through provincial nominees process. It is taking longer than Federal process. My background check is done, medicals are done. What is it that is delaying my application?

We accept more than 2000 permanent resident applications every month, most of them priority cases. Circumstances beyond our control can create backlogs.
Please note, processing times are simply averages and subject to change, they are not guarantees. As indicated on our website, the processing times noted are an average of files finalized between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010. Past processing times may not indicate the length of time it will take to finalize applications in the future.

Buffalo Consulate has the slowest processing time. Provincial nominee's application does not need to wait for one year for the process to complete. My application is complete. The dates of your processing times should be very clear. Someone has to taken a legal action against your consulate.
