dear_pnp,

Any idea if some one status change to "Medical received" then how long it take to get PPR from NYC.

Depends upon when your application was received by CIC. Not necessarily you will get it early if the status changes to medicals received. There are many whose status does not change from In process till they get their PPRs or visa after which it changes to Decision Made.

When did your status changed to Medical results have been received

Yup you are right! My e-cas shows:

"We started processing your application on July 15, 2010.

We transferred your application to the New York office on December 14, 2010. The New York office may contact you.

Medical results have been received."

Kevin,

Based on your time line i think you should get PPR by now. Did you send case specific enquiry.

Thank,

Thank,

My status changed to "Medicals received.." three weeks back. My lawyer said they will have to wait for 90 days(from the date of consulate transfer) before sending any enquiry.. which is Mar 15th for me :-(
Hopefully I get the PPR before that..

Maybe today is the day for all of us whose file is still in Buffalo :)

When does unemployment benefits start for the Permanent resident OR one has to be citizen to apply.

Dosts and Friends .. Please advise!

I received PR stamp on my passport in November, it says I need to land in Canada by August, 2012. And the COPR states that it is valid until August, 2014 -

I have two questions -

1. Is the COPR valid date same as the Permanent Resident validate date ? in that case I just have 4 years and not 5 years what initially thought PR was valid for?
2. When does the 5 year PR valid state start ? the day I received COPR or from the day I land in Canada (for ex: if I land today, will it be 5 years from now?)

If you know the answers to the above, it will be a huge relief and also may help others who are on the same boat.

Thanking you Sincerely ...

AM

Hey Guys whose files are in NY:

I have noticed a thing here in getting the PPR, especially in NY office. Irrespective of when your file was transferred, the issue of PPRs are done according to the date of filing the initial application to buffalo.

Example, X and Y applied on Mar and Apr 2010 respectively and X got file transfer in Feb 2011 and Y got file transfer way back in Nov 2010. Early file transfer only implies that the background check was done quickly.

So in theory, Y could have waited months to get the PPR whereas X can get it quickly. So X will get the PPR first and then Y. Thats the queue. Not the queue of date of file transfer.

So chill and do not expect anything until people who applied before than you get their PPRs.

Thanks guys for that awesome piece of advice. I was waiting based on conventional wisdom to not send it untill they ask for it...but looks like things are not working in a linear way and I would be better off sending them the FBI results with the file sticker attached on the outside.

Thanks again for the advice. That is why this forum rocks.

If you have fresh FBI results, dont wait till the file xfers. Please go ahead and send it out to Buffalo immediately.
