Online Vs. Paper application: Process time, Document requirements, Online sign

Hi,

I am going to apply for study permit on May 22 and my course will start on Sept 1 and I feel there is little time left. I am from Bangladesh and our visa office is in Singapore. according to CIC our study permit processing time is 7 weeks (updated on May 9) I have few questions and I would be grateful if anyone can answer them.

1. Which application processing time is faster? Online or paper submission? I read comments on favor of online application and all have applied from India. Is there anyone who can share their experience from Bangladesh or who applied through Singapore office?

2. Do students get Visa (permit) on their passport or Letter of introduction and get the permit on arrival? can anyone share their experience on the processes of After You Apply? When do I do my bio metrics and asked for passport if the application is accepted? Is it included in the processing time? (I am a bit nervous about time)

3. There are differences in documents requirement between online and paper submission. I.e. Police clearance certificates, Affidavit of academic Certificates. Should I upload all the documents which are required in paper submission in Letter of explanation portal? If I do not, would they ask for them later? Can anyone share experience?

4. How to sign online forms digitally? I got a bit confused after reading instruction from CIC because I do not see any security questions in the forms to answer. Can anyone elaborate the process?

Hello Hassan, I don't know the answers to all of your questions but I will give you what I know. Regarding the processing time I don't have self experience with this but I saw someone saying that paper application is faster (make sure). For me, I have applied online since April 20, they send you a message -For me, they sent it on the same day I applied and I went the second day- on your online application account asking you to take a copy of it and your passport to the nearest Canadian visa center to you to take your fingerprints and a photograph (Biometrics), As I checked, in Bangladesh there are 3 offices, in DHAKA, CHITTAGONG and SYLHET. In the online application the required documents are Proof of Financial Support and that includes(Banks Statements for the past 4 months, employment letter from the guy who's supporting you with money, a letter from the person or institution providing you with money and many other things but they're not all mandatory) , Photos of your passport and all pages have stamps or visas etc, letter of acceptance(from university), personal photo, Family information(there will be a form to fill and upload online), and a request for medical exam(form where you sign if you should take the exam or not depending on where you living). After you submit all these documents they will ask you to enter you first and last name and answer a security question and that's your online signing.

Hi,

Generally Police Clearance Certificates is required for my country. But I opened a portal for online application for study permit and there is no individual option for uploading PCC.

Online application and Paper application submission are separate procedure and I think you cannot link them. You shall get every detailed information in this link:

I'm Egyptian but applying from Qatar and the average processing time here is 5 weeks. I can't really judge how accurate it is since my period isn't over yet, so far 23 days and counting, w8ing for a respond. I don't really know what are the papers needed for the paper application so don't know what is mandatory and what is not. Regarding form IMM1294 you need only 1 signature, the way to sign it is by finishing filling the form and click on Validate and upload it online, when you upload all of the other files online and click next you will be asked to type your name and answer a security question << THAT IS YOUR SIGNATURE. For IMM5645(Family info) you will need several signatures you can sign it by typing your first and last name using the signature tool in the PDF form.

1. This just really varies from person to person. If you present all the documents needed, it is more likely to have processing times much faster.

2. Not sure about this since I'm still on the process of getting my SP, but I think you'll get your study permit when you arrive in Canada.

3. There are no differences for required documents. For online submission, you'll be asked to upload a file that falls to a category (Proof of means of Financial Support, Passport, Letter of Acceptance, etc.). You'll see that when you apply online. The rest of the supporting documents that does not fall in to those categories should be attached together with the Letter of Explanation. Police clearance, if needed for your country, can be attached along with the letter of explanation.

4. You won't be needing to sign the documents if you opt to apply online. You'll just need a credit card to pay for the application when you're done.
