Is it advisable if I submit my PR application online without Police certificate and upload it to my application later? (I don't want to wait for another month or so to receive police certificate and then submit PR application which would delay my processing time)

It could get sent back. It might not. Up to you to decide whether you think it's worth risking it to save a month.

Hello all

I am starting this thread for people who are looking to apply for spousal sponsorship through the recently started online application process.

We can use this space to help each other with the online application.

About me:
Canadian PR who got recently married and looking to sponsor his wife who is in India at present. Would be applying for spousal PR online.
Hi Alok,
Thanks for creating this thread.
I'm also in the same boat as you. We are preparing application to apply online and filled up forms.
I've few queries where I can use your help.
1. Which process is faster online and or sending the documents by postal application.
2. Do we need the principal applicant's police clearance while applying
3. For the sponsor's Job details for last 5 years, do we get any space while applying online, because in my case I had a gap year but there in not enough space in the form (In any case how to give the supporting)
4. I'm already a PR, so should I open a new account GCkey or my wife has to open an account

Hello! Yesterday i was trying to upload all the forms and documents on the online platform to finally submit my application. I made a mistake when uploading my passport, so i deleted it to upload it again but i haven't been able since, when i try to upload it i get a message: "There was a technical error when handling your request. Please try again later."
It's been like this for almost 24 hours. Its gettign really frustrating. Is this normal? Does anybody know what should i do? Should i wait a little longer? I was really hoping to submit my application today or tomorrow at most.
Did you go through this alright?

Hi Everyone,

I am also planning to apply online; but when i visited the link (https://prson-srpel.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/login), it says, "If your application for permanent residence is approved, you will be invited by IRCC to use this portal to confirm your status as a permanent resident "

The link should have been available here:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/family-sponsorship/spouse-partner-children/apply.html
But I'm not sure why it's not there.

Hi everyone,

I've just applied submitted the online application for PR common-law/spousal class, inland. I'm the principle applicant.

I understand in cases where paper applications are submitted, the forms for Open Work Permit (OPW) are appended together with the rest of the forms for PR application. For online applications, does the option to apply for OPW online become available only after AOR is received?

I'm asking because I've created an account, i'm signed in, yet I'm having a hard time trying to find out where and how to initiate this application for OPW.

Anyone has a clue?

Thanks in advance!

I just received an email from IRCC saying our application status has been updated on our IRCC Permanent Residence portal account, but when I sign in, it still only shows submitted. Anyone had the same experience?

1. No sign either is faster. Online is a pilot - choose it not because it's faster but becasue it's more convenient for you (if it is).
2. Read the instructions specific to your country. Most countries - yes.

Thanks Man..

One more ques. In your IMM 5532 If you're unemployed they say explain how you sustained, But there isn't enough space. Also if I put my Unemployment details, I don't have enough rows to complete my 5 years of employment history.

Can I attach an explanation letter separately?

Pls. suggest. I'm stuck at this place.

Not that i am in the same situation, but what I did in the event that the forms do not allow me explain myself (eg. insufficient rows, exceeding limit for number of words) is to append a document providing extra information. I don't see any harm in doing so - i'd titled it properly, indicating what it is an elaboration or explanation to.

Hope this helps!

I am in process of applying online. Do we have list of tracking people who applied online? Did anyone get any response so far? My immigration lawyer friend saying generally these days spouse applications are done within 6-8months!

There is a tracking tool you can access here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/192sbvjd4vJsEWY_B7w5DgFKBmIPNYo6TjlVWAk-xxxA/edit#gid=873641429 you can scroll through the tabs, they should give you a general indication of processing timelines.
