Humdrumdum sayang din kasi ang opportunity na nandoon na ko. I'm only allowed 2 weeks a year for vacation. Research assistant kasi ako sa university kaya they'll fund my education as compensation. Kaya dapat sulitin na para next time sa ibang lugar naman.

I guess my student permit will be issued in Toronto Airport. Sa point of entry daw binibigay yun.

Talked with the school, ok lang daw malate kaya no worries ako sa kanila. They're very accommodating. Sa point of entry talaga winoworry ko.

My sister told me na Vancouver lang daw meron, baka hindi nya alam kung meron sa Montreal. I have relatives in Vancouver din wishing that I will land there first before Toronto.

msladybug, iba na yan kapag pati sa airport magkita pa tayo. Hahaha! Plan ko is to leave on the 20th or 22nd. I'm expecting my passport early next week kasi. Tapos I'll leave for Calgary sa 26th.

@msladybug: I'm not going into university, BCIT ang papasukan ko I'm still considering continuing my studies after my diploma program to get bachelor's since kung maccredit ang units ko, baka 1 year na lang idagdag ko and baka mabawasan rin ang workload ko (huhu 36 units/sem) if I get my Philippine credit units evaluated by ICES. I'm just happy sa September 3 pa ang orientation since I heard most schools sa August na kagad hehe

Cool naman ng admissions niyo, madali kausap haha

Malay mo doc, magkita talaga tayo. I'm planning on leaving sa August 21 tapos pasok sa school on August 26 para makagala muna. Hehe

Saan pala port of entry natin lahat? I had a conversation with my Aunt from BC and she tolde na isa lng daw port of etry which is in Vancouver and magdomestic flight nlng daw ako next day. Hehe

Port of Entry ko will be Toronto Pearson Airport kasi my flight will be Manila-Abu Dhabi-Toronto. Hindi naman siguro YVR lang ang port of entry. Basta international airport ang alam ko pwede maging POE. Hahaha.. Pwede rin msladybug, malay mo nga magkita tayo sa NAIA.

msladybug, hindi kaya ng kuya ko magbook ng interline tickets. At the same time, wala daw silang partner airline sa Canada. Etihad destinations lang daw kaya nya. I already booked my Toronto-Calgary flight at $300+ via AirCanada kanina. Wala na ko choice kasi nagmamahal everyday. Replied to your message also.

Peak season kasi eh Sept. 9 onwards, significantly cheaper na ang airfare papuntang North America. From 2000+ nagiging 800+ na lang :O Kaya hindi na ako ihahatid ng parents ko, October na lang daw sila pupunta haha

@msladybug: ang kapartner po ng AirCanada is ANA (All Nippon Airways) but super mahal talaga ang ANA ( Kapag WestJet, ang alam ko Delta ang kapartner.

ANA is quite expensive. I'll take that flight sana na Manila-Tokyo through ANA tapos codeshare Tokyo-Calgary through AirCanada. I think codeshare din ang Tokyo-Toronto at Vancouver.

Ang mura flights to Canada are via Taipei either with China Airlines or EVA Air.

Searched for cheap flight fares for August 2013 from NAIA to Toronto via tripvisor, expedia, skyscanner, etc.. Cheapest na ang Delta Airways, PAL, Cathay and Dragon Air but out of these 4, Cathay and Dragon Air lang ako pwede makakuha discount. Wala tlga direct flight ang QatarAiways to Toronto.

When are your dates of departure DocRZ & Humdrum? I'm rooting for August 21 & 22. Sana itong dates pa rin ang cheapest by tomorrow 'coz my sis will be free tomorrow pa. Is China Airlines similar with China South Airlines? Anong Airline na pala gagamitin mo papunta Canada niyan DocRZ and what's the name of the airline for your Toronto-Calgary flight?

Sa August 31 pa po ang flight ko via PAL Gusto ko sana ng earlier pero di ko pa masabi kasi mag-memed exam pa lang ako bukas haha sana hindi ako bagyuhin! buti na lang ang September 3 pa ang orientation, I don't have much to worry about since I'll be living in my sister's apartment and I have everything I need Aasikasuhin ko na lang ang bank account, cellphone, and IDs after Labor Day hehe

@ msladybug: I would suggest trying to canvass flights during off-peak hours. Nagbabago po talaga ang price ) Like ngayon, nagiging USD 1,078 ang PAL flight compared to USD 1,700 during morning hours haha!

China Airlines is the flag carrier of Taiwan (despite the name haha) via Taipei po ang flight, while Mainland China po ang China Southern via Guangzhou Ang main difference is po is mas maikli ang travel time with China Airlines compared to EVA and China Southern Halos same travel time ang China Airlines with Cathay na via Hong Kong, pero pinaka mura talaga China Airlines.

Kung gusto niyo po, i-try niyo na lang rin magpaquote with a travel agent. Minsan mas mura talaga kung through them vs. web fares but it mostly depends which airline and what date

msladybug, from Manila to Toronto maybe between the 20th and 22nd with Etihad. Tapos, I'm flying with AirCanada from Toronto to Calgary on the 26th. Pareho lang kasi ang price ng Westjet at AirCanada. You can try flying to Montreal kasi yun lang ang destination ng Qatar Airways sa Canada. Then catch a flight from Montreal to Toronto. Compare mo nlng ang accumulated costs. Kung at least 30% cheaper go for it, otherwise PAL na lang kasi direct flight naman.

Ang mga pwede mo pagpilian na airlines from Manila to Toronto that flies across the Pacific Ocean (shorter route) are PAL, Cathay Pacific, EVA Air (China Airlines fly only to Vancouver) and Korean Air. Hanggang Vancouver lang rin ang JAL, Air China, China Southern. Don't fly with Delta or United-Continental unless you have a valid US Visa.
