No news yet DocRz.. no email response.. Nothing. :(

I am praying that CEM will notify us about our application.

Hello, I was given a slot just last week for this September 2013 intake, but from what I've read here, it seems impossible for me to get a visa in 1 month :( Would a paper-based application help expedite my application? I still have a valid multiple-entry visa to Canada until 2015, and I have never been denied a visa to the Schengen states, USA (mine's still valid until 2020), and Japan among others. My TOEFL score is 106/120 and my academic records are also above average, having finished my bachelor's from one of the top 3 universities in the Philippines just this year.

I'm really nervous about this because I really want to study again but I don't know if I should just defer my acceptance to next year's intake...

Any helpful advice? :'(

@msladybug Sent another email to CEM today since nothing happened about my first email a month ago. I will also go to the embassy on Monday to deliver a copy of my documents together with an inquiry on the status of my application. I really need to have the visa by the second week of August as my professor asks me to help him with one of his existing research. Hopefully a miracle will happen! How's yours?

@humdrumdum welcome to the forum. Would you mind sharing your program and the university you received admission. If you got admission from one of the U15, then I think it's worth trying. Deferral is not always allowed. It's the discretion of the Program Coordinator/Graduate School and/or research supervisor if they'll let you. Admission is very competitive so if you're with McGill, UToronto or UBC, go for the visa now.

DocRZ- very annoyin indeed! I wish n pray you get your visa soon... I know how long have you been sitting on this. It's too long I know uhhh

Thanks Divyazabi. It's a little frustrating that things have not come my way after 3 months of waiting. But I still positive that I'm gonna get the visa within two weeks - just in-time for my professors request. Got visa already? When are you leaving for USask?

Nope not yet..applied only last Monday. Fingers crossed ::)

Applied within India? I envy how visa applications in India are processed lighting-fast... I wish it's the same here in Manila. All the best in your application!

I understand..we are quite lucky on that part. wishin you good luck on your file too!

I often wonder the difference in times b/w countries in the same geo! At least, they can stick onto their stipulated TAT's which should be better in all likelihood. Like you said, should get it within 2 weeks :) Hope for the best and yea continue to stay positive which is what is quintessential now ...

I didn't apply for a university as I had to wait for my post-secondary documents to do so, and having graduated just this March, I only sent in my application in April. (Which is way past the application period for uni's) I personally would prefer a diploma course because it's only 2 years long and it would be a more affordable option. (Although I am thinking of pursuing another bachelor's in one of the U15 once I finish the diploma program)

Fortunately, I was offered a slot last minute (just last week) by the British Columbia Institute of Technology into their Food Technology diploma program for the September intake and I accepted it. My acceptance letter is yet to arrive so I'm in a stand-still. :( I do have all my forms and other docs ready, I'm just waiting for the original acceptance letter. I finished a degree in Management of Applied Chemistry from Ateneo and I'm currently in the R&D field, so I'm hoping they would consider that as being related to my study plan :(

I'm planning to try out the newly-opened VAC as they said they might be able to process applications faster alongside the Canadian Embassy.

@DocRZ no reply yet. Sigh. The start date of my studies is on August 15. But you have been waiting longer than I have been. Let's keep each other posted. :D

@msladybug I also have to be in Calgary by August 15. The best of luck to both of us.

@humdrumdum I am worried that time constraints is the big factor. I guess the perfect solution is to defer. With the ongoing strike in all Canadian embassies throughout the world, I think you cannot have an approved visa in just a month. Also try applying to other more reputable universities for Winter 2014 if you decide to defer.

Yeah, I'm seriously considering deferring. It seems it is a bad time to apply for a visa because of the strike.

University isn't really an option for me at the moment because I would really much rather prefer a diploma course. I'm not planning to work in Canada anyway because I really intend to work here. :)

@humdrumdum May the odds be still on your favor this time. :)

Finally, an email from the embassy. It's just weird that they say they're just waiting for my medical results yet they have not sent me a request for me to have my medicals done....
