Well, it really is a guessing game trying to decipher the method that CIC is using to issue these pilot OWPs. Since you only submitted your OWP application a few weeks ago, I doubt that it will arrive before you leave, since CIC has stated that they will try to process these within 4 months (of receiving them, which in your case, could be ~ May.

Gah!! Stress! I may have to just go to England without it if it comes to it. I had read it as being those people who are applying now are going to be given visas within 4 months and people like myself ASAP. I think that is an idealistic interpretation and that no other time frame was laid out. I just got ahead of myself at Xmas when I heard it - I even contacted my old job and told them to expect me back at work soon - they have had my position open for me since I had to stop working.

At least I know they received it four weeks ago, so hopefully at the most it will only be another three week. My oh has given me his phone today so I will be calling cic to find out what they know. I imagine they will say 'it is being processed', which doesn't mean much and then give their standard line of 'it could take up to four months to process'. Sigh. I wish there was a better way of tracking things.

:-[ So I spoke with CIC and they advised me that the wait will be a minimum of 4 months - could be longer and that I won't be fastracked because my owp wasn't put in at the same time as my pr. They also advised me against going back to England until I get my owp. So not good news for me :(

Everyone is being told 4 months, we applied in Feb 2014 for our owp (our pr file was sent in Dec. 2013), and all we've been told is that the owp is being processed

Hello everyone! I made my own thread asking about the inland/outland options a few minutes ago but I wanted to clarify something in here also.

The inland option is looking very attractive to my husband and I, the main reason being that it is WAY more important to have him here and working quickly than it is for him to have his final permanent residency approval. He already has dual citzenship in two european countries and isn't looking at becoming a canadian citizen one day, we just want to live together and have a proper life together as a married couple.

So my question is this: Are the OWPs actually being issued in a timely manner now like CIC promised? Has anyone who applied after Dec 22nd recieved an OWP yet? Are you guaranteed the OWP no questions asked as long as the inland application is recieved at the same time and you have valid status in Canada as a visitor?

Basically, it almost sounds too good to be true so I want to check up on this and make sure it is actually happening like they said it would. Any input is appreciated :) thanks!

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding the change to the fees for OWP CIC has recently implemented (sorry, can't post links - it can be found on CIC's website in News -> Notices).

Our application was received on January 23 but we haven't received an AOR yet.
The website says the fee will be collected starting February 21 - Does that mean that if we still don't have AOR by Feb 21, they will contact us and request the extra fee?

It's not even the money that worries me (after all the money the app has already cost us) but more so the delay it would cause in getting the OWP.

What do you guys think?

Which forms to use for "Open Work Permit" with inland spousal-sponsorship?

Could someone please give me the links? I got confused by cic website.

Thanks.

Yesterday I got my OWP (issued in February) under the pilot project! I applied for my PR at the end of 2014.

When did you mailed your OWP application??

@rhcohen2014 I am not sure when did CIC receive my application, we sent it in November 2014.

@vik999 I sent my OWP application along with the PR application.

I sent my OWP January 19, 2015.. nothing from CIC yet

my husband (the one I'm sponsoring) sent his OWP and PR application Nov 17, 2014 but we havent received any OWP yet... only AOR for him (not for me the sponsor). Frustrating...

It's possible that now that you got AOR, CIC-V will now see the OWP application in the system and begin to process OWP for your husband. You still have some waiting to do. The question now is how long after AOR will your husband get OWP? 4 months after AOR? Only time will tell.
