We were able to get TD to give us a print out of the current balance which showed our address then the stamped it to show it was official and that was accepted on NB as a proof of address. Your mileage may vary in other provinces but at least here it worked and it seemed to be a standard thing for TD to do
Will have no issues doing this don't want to just waste time though. Just sad that the whole "mileage may vary thing" means what happens to your efforts is impacted by who you talk to not by some standard you can look for.

Oh well will do my best :)

Sadly Ontario specifically says printouts are not acceptable. has to be official mailed proof. so far its the only province with rules this strict. I dont even think in the past i had this much trouble even with Quebec.

Things that I know (for a fact) work reasonably well:
-housing insurance (and presumably other forms of insurance). They will both provide an electronic certificate and a mailed form shortly thereafter.
-a proper lease, signed. There is a standard Ontario lease form. I don't believe there snould be an issue with doing one for a relative residing in the house (eg renting a room). It may be possible to execute an attestation of domicile or similar (basically a sworn document saying you live there) from the relative, but I would not be surprised if Ontario refused to accept if not notarized.
-SIN card acceptance mailed from federal government. (Don't know if one issued at airport would be accepted - because have not seen). These are mailed quickly, it seems, if applied for online.

Keep in mind that until recently Ontario had 3-month waiting period so it's not surprising that their systems are designed to have applicants show docs that almost anyone would have after being in residence for three months. Hopefully it's not a medical issue that's the concern immediately.

The lady on the phone did say that once you sort out this nonsense and get something mailed that you can be reimbursed for any medical expenses that you incurred as your coverage would be effective when you landed.

Oh well perhaps it will be easier for me in Alberta.

Thanks a lot for the posts here.
