Dear Friend,
I am here activating my old issue with a new thread.
Applogies for that.

As my concern with health insurance issues discussed in the following threads with Master Qorax, Leon and other friends, after discussing with Alberta Health Insurance People, I came to conclusion that I won’t fall in the new settler’s category. So, they will not give me the AHIP card without wait time unlikely we discussed before.

My wife is expecting new baby in June, so we still satisfy the 3 months wait period in Ontariob where we landed before. I could not afford if the baby will born before the expected date. So, I am exploring any options if there are any. I landed in April last year, so what they would check whether we are in Canada or not? Do they check immigration data or passport or other things such as utility bills/tel bills to check the wait times of 3 months?
Ontario residents, your suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Gaizin,

I did go through the previous discussions, from where you could not find a solution for the anticipated hospital charges.

I suggest to get the help of Midwife, which can be less expensive under such an embarrassing situation.

Read more about it here:

Dear Wilson,
I am really grateful to you everytime for your quick response.
By the way, do you have any idea what they will check whether we lived in Canada or not during this period. As my address is registered in my friend's home, fortunately I had bought a cell phone at the time which was landed and my friends are still using the cell phone. Bank account is okay. We can tell them to draw the money frequently...Are these work for the evidence we stayed there during this period?

Your advice is highly welcome.

Gaizin, I don't have any source to indicate what is the Canadian Government policy for tracking the exit/re-entry at the boarder/airport. I never saw while exiting Canada any BSO scan the passports at the boarder or at the airport. But the CBSA scan the passports while entering Canada by air/sea or road. I don't mean that the CSIS and CBSA has no intelligence for tracking the traveller's entries/exits. I am not ware of any other methods they adopt. It looks like the entire Canadian system is based on trust. Trust is the way that Canada promoting a better culture, and great sociologists are of course behind it.

What I think is, a declaration, if any, made by self about his/her presence in Canada would be considered as evidence for that purpose. But if some one tried to cheat and provided the false information, the consequences can be worst.

Hi Wilson,
You took my issue in different way. That is normal becuase I am desperete to get the Ontario health insurance. What I wanted to explain is that I (only me, no wife and kids) had been in different parts of Ontario during this period for 47 days for business but not at registered address and not continuously either. I am wondering how I can convince them to include this 47 days to count the waiting period.

OK gaizin, do you have an address proof now. For OHIP, they need a address proof which could be bank statement of account/ your credit card statement or a utility bill received in your latest mailing address?. If you have such an address proof, then go to the nearest health care office and submit your application together with your PR Card and Passport. Complete the application.

If you landed and gave an address in Ontario or if your address in COPR shows an address in Ontario, there will not be any problem for your travel in different provinces. That address you are going to give for your health card should be same s in the address proof. They are no more going to make any additional questions about your whereabouts.
