what should I expect next from the OINP after i submit the documents??

I just received a letter through my online express entry profile letting me know that I am no longer eligible for FSW because my language test results are now expired. The letter was sent automatically exactly 2 years from the date of my tests results. I have already applied for Ontario nomination (in February) and have already received my AOR (in August), but I wonder if I should worry now. I will take IELTS again soon, but it would take a few weeks for me to get the results, and it seems like after that I would have to open a new file online with a new file number. Does anyone have any experience with expired English test results or having to open a new express entry file after already sending an OINP application? Would I have to email them and let them know the new file number? And would they accept that? If they are returning people's applications for things like "missing passport page" will they reject my application if they get to it before I send them the new English scores? Any thoughts or comments will be appreciated.

By the way, if your English results are expiring soon, I suggest that you take the test again as soon as possible!

1. You have to appear for new test and update the results soon. You cannot have an expired Express Entry profile, OINP will return your application but not the fees.

2. Check for test dates ASAP. After the test, it takes two weeks to get the result and another one week to get the Test Results Form.

Generally after submission of additional documents, I have observed that applicants get nominated within 3-4 weeks, sometimes even quicker than that. This is subject to the condition that applicant has submitted additional documents in a manner which satisfactorily meets the requirement.

Here is the letter I got:


You are not eligible for Express Entry

To qualify for Express Entry, you must meet the minimum eligibility criteria for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and/or the Federal Skilled Trades Program and/or the Canadian Experience Class. Based on your profile, you do not meet the minimum eligibility criteria for any of these programs. Reasons you would not be eligible for Express Entry include:

• not having a valid language test
• language test results that are more than two years old
• a language test score that is too low
• not having enough relevant work experience
• not having the required education level
• not having enough funds


If you still want to come to Canada as a skilled immigrant, you can take steps to improve your qualifications and register for Express Entry at a later date. For example, you may try to improve your language score or gain a higher level of education.

You can also apply directly to a province or territory through the (link) .

Also, in front of Application/profile status it now says Profile Ineligible.

Thanks for your response! I did sign up for a new test, but I won't get the result for another two weeks and my EE profile is already expired. Do you think OINP is notified of this automatically given that the application was paper-based? I wonder if it's best for me to contact OINP about this now or wait until I have a new test scire and a new EE profile. Thanks again!

When are you likely to get a new IELTS result? Whats your CRS? I am also seeking answers from the Forum and anyone who has been through this situation before. There is one person who I contacted on the PNP thread, she had a similar situation but pre-AOR...not sure if that matters though....obviously her application was also being processed , they just didn't have the bandwidth to send AORs in time.

Also, I think we have to inform OINP sooner than later about anything that impacts our EE Profile (its mentioned in the AOR Letter).

this is my personal opinion - you dont have to follow it...
on your EE profile, change date of expiry by about 1 month, say its expiring on 1st september, change it to 1st october. and update your new scores as soon as you get them... technically its illegal, but in my "personal opinion" its better than having an expired profile...
maybe someone else has a better suggestion ?

Thanks for the reply...someone else also suggested this approach, but am wary of doing anything that may be held against me at a later stage. Anyways, with limited options at hand, I hope there is someone out there who has been through this exact situation and can provide guidance. I have another 4-5 days to take a final call on this.

Sorry for the late reply.
Well I would say I had similar situation, but back then I did not get AOR, hence I went ahead and updated my profile with the IELTS score which reduced my CRS. Meanwhile, I was waiting for the new score and as soon as I got the new result I had updated in my profile. Since your is a case where you already have AOR and an encashed DD, it is likely that your profile will expire once the CRS reduces. You may even want to mail OINP regarding the same and inform that you are about to give one more try for IELTS and awaiting response by first week of Dec.
Though you may verify with the experts on this forum for apt opinion.

got an email today requesting documents.

-Most recent bank assessment showing all assets.

This means assessment/ evaluations of your current assets done by the bank or any other evaluation body. This is the way assets (land/ property/ home) are usually evaluated.

-6 months of most recent bank statements. The bank statements should show your name and account balance.

not sure what are they asking in the 1st line. i dont have any assets in canada or outside.

Yes, you can create a new EE profile after you receive new IELTS results and you can update this info to OINP and they will definitely consider it. All the best.

I second this suggestion... update your EE profile with the current scores and hope that OINP does not bother you until you can update you profile again with your new scores in Dec 2... If they do explain to them that you had a bad day during your last IELTS exame and you've retaken the IELTS and will update them on Dec 2nd, ask them for a few days grace for the new score... That way you're doing everything by the book and they wont catch you out (as you're not doing anything wrong)....

The worse that can happen is you can get a PFL and IF this happens relax as by the time you need to reply to the PFL you'll have your new test scores!

To all those with expiring IELTS, let this be a lesson to you, plan to retake well in advance so that if you need to do it again you have more time!
