Hello Guys,

a small question here. I had got my Bank Draft (for OINP application CAD $ 1500) prepared on 19th Nov 2015. As per the bank the Draft is valid only for 3 months from the date of issue. The Draft had not been encashed yet neither have i received AOR.

Can senior members guide what to do or what exactly happens if they have gone through this situation.

If your draft expires before OINP can cash it, they might return your application (or in a rare instance, they might accept your application and ask you to send a fresh draft).

Foreign currency DD's are usually valid for 6 months. Even if it is valid for 3 months, there would be a way to "renew/increase" its validity. Please check with your bank manager.

ICICI Bank had told me the validity as 6 months when they issued me the draft in Nov-2015. Can you recheck with HDFC and post back what they tell you ?.

I rechecked my DD there is no mention of any "valid upto" date as such. Yesterday one forum member was also saying that SBI told him that earlier the Foreign Currency DD's had validity of 6months but now it's only 3 months. Better to recheck.

I believe that all DDs issued in India are valid for 6 months.

I had taken a DD on 21st October, 2015 (India/ICICI bank). It was cashed on 11th Feb, 2015 (from the receipt I got along with my AOR). Apparently, it was cashed on the 4th month.

Also, there was an Indian applicant who received AOR on the 5th month. His DD was cashed then.

So, relax people!
